Today we’d like to introduce you to Bailey Volock.
Bailey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was diagnosed with cancer in college which through my career plans for a loop. I had already played with the embroidery machines, and while going through treatment and finishing college online, I began taking small jobs for some friends. I had the opportunity to buy commercial equipment in my senior year of college, and took the plunge! I walked by it for weeks, being so consumed by college, but after graduation, we hit the ground running. Friends would bring hay bags, and horse blankets, and then we ended up meeting with some corporate companies in Parker, and next thing I knew, we were shipping all over the US.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say that every business has its bumps in the road. From starting out of a house, off dirt roads, where some clients really didn’t want to meet with you, and machines going down and waiting on repairmen. We always learned to take it one day at a time. We have grown from one embroidery machine – to four embroidery machines, a laser engraver, screen printing, vinyl printer, and in 2018 found our current retail location!
The biggest bump for us was the Forest Ridge Fire in Kiowa CO, March of 2018. I was still working out of my house and was out at the airport dropping off family when I got the call that there was a wildfire just over the hill from us. We were over an hour from the house – we called friends and they got all our animals to safety – but for hours we didn’t know the fate of our house. We would get reports it was on fire – we could see our barn on national news but never the house. Thankfully – the house was saved but had so much smoke damage and heat damage. We were shut down for 67 days. Machines were rebuilt, thread was replaced. It taught us so much though! We changed our bookkeeping and inventory systems – and it really did help us in the long run as a business.
Other small struggles are shipping times on apparel! We order in so much apparel we had to learn about oversees holidays that slow production, and to watch the weather all over the USA!
Please tell us about Royal B Threads.
Royal B Threads has really grown its presence in the corporate world and the agriculture world. Having grown up showing horses and being on our cattle ranch, I understood the values of honesty, hard work, trust, and respect. As well as knows the demands that our clothing are put in while out on the job. This has allowed her to help her clients make informed decisions on apparel.
We started with just embroidery – but now we have expanded into Embroidery, Screen Printing, Laser Engraving, Vinyl decals and Banners, Heat Transfer Vinyl, Aluminum Signage, Graphic Design, and Flags. It’s the running joke around the office that when there is an out of the box project they bring it me and “Bailey will figure it out”
I pride myself in our customer service and our quality. I have always tried to remember that we are all human, and mistakes happen, but its how you recover from them that makes the difference. We pride ourselves on standing behind our products and making our client’s dreams come true. We started using the slogan, “Your Vision, Our Passion”.
Just the other day we had a client come in to pick up her new jackets – she put it on and was so excited to wear it around and show it to everyone who came in! On the way out she says – I am never taking it off! That is why we do what we do. We have had the blessing to be involved in so many important moments in people’s lives – weddings, funerals, baby announcements, world records, new business ventures, continued corporate branding. It’s so amazing to help play a role in that moment for them!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
We own a family ranch in NM. I was able to go down to ride with my aunt and grandpa. I rode Charlie – and we got to ride up the canyon wall and the path was marked by my grandpas’ piles of rocks. He would take the sandstone and stack them to mark which way up the canyon wall. I was the youngest grandchild, so I loved anytime I was able to spend with my grandpa. He passed away two days before my high school graduation – but we surprised him and I went in cap and gown before he passed, it was his dream to see all his grand kids graduate.
