Meet Annette Wychgram of Beauty Refined in Lone Tree

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annette Wychgram.

Annette, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m one of those rare individuals that became very passionate about what I do from a young age. When I was 14 years old my aunt was fighting leukemia. As I learned of her struggles, I thought to myself… no one deserves to be treated like that when they are faced with one of the toughest battles of their life. At that moment, I had a realization and knew I wanted to go into healthcare. No one would feel the way she felt while on my watch. Making a difference in someone else’s life, someone else’s experience, making them feel better about themselves and what they are faced with in life… that’s what being a healthcare professional is to me. When I was a freshman in high school, I determined that being a Nurse Practitioner was my ultimate career goal. It was the answer to my passion for leaving a gentle impression and being in direct care of the patients I would work with.

I studied at the University of Denver for my general studies and then attended the Colorado State University where I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 2008. I worked as a Medical Oncology Nurse at Swedish Medical Center for many years. It was a great experience, but I knew it was time to take my career to the next level. I attended Regis University’s Family Nurse Practitioner program and graduated in 2013. I worked as a Hospitalist, which expanded my knowledge base beyond what I had ever imagined possible. I worked as an Interventional Radiology Neurovascular and Peripheral Vascular Nurse Practitioner, working with some of the most advanced medical technology.

One afternoon my sister and I went into a local medical spa. We decided to try Botox. It sounded amazing… and it was! I remember being so excited about my new anti-aging treatment. Putting my medical expertise to work in the skincare industry seemed like a slam dunk. I worked hard to get thorough training in technique and was able to start injecting part-time. That was the start of Beauty Refined. My medical background provides a priceless benefit to my new career in skincare. My needle skill, knowledge of anatomy, and talent for connecting with my patients have been critical to my success.

Now, five years later… Beauty Refined continues to grow. I have a complete offering of anti-aging and injectable services, all with the goal of achieving a healthy and natural appearance. I take every opportunity to learn more and train with the best in the industry from all over the world. My passion for educating patients about prevention and improving and maintaining healthy functional lives is stronger than ever. I believe that caring for your skin, face, and preventing wrinkles and fine lines early will help keep everyone looking more healthy, youthful, and confident.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are struggles in everything we do, but I have had a relatively smooth road with Beauty Refined. I have found that the struggles are what drives you to make things change for the better. My biggest challenge has been when my husband and I started a family. I was juggling motherhood, working at the hospital, and growing my own practice. I had slowly phased out of my acute care work (hospital) when I realized my passions had shifted. I want to be the best wife and mother, as well as focus on my growing business. My passion is making people look and feel beautiful. More than ever I enjoy continuing to learn and perfect my techniques, constantly working on mastering my skills so that I can give my patients the best results and safest treatments on the market. It has been an amazing shift in my career.

Please tell us about Beauty Refined.
Beauty Refined is a growing medical spa located in Lone Tree, CO. I provide anti-aging treatments, including micro-needling (SkinPen and Vivace RF) and injectables (Botox/Dysport, Fillers, and Scultpra Aesthetic). I also offer several options for top-quality skincare products. I will be adding thread lifting to my list of treatments soon, which is very exciting! Stay tuned via my Instagram and webpage. My goal is to achieve a natural-looking result when it comes to injectable treatments. I have learned how to make you feel comfortable during your treatment, leaving you feeling refreshed and refined.

I am most proud of the growth of my business. This has been a product of good old-fashioned hard work. In addition to growing my abilities through continuing education and training, I’ve learned about marketing, accounting, planning, and the many other aspects of growing a small business.

What sets me completely apart from others is a skill that I learned early on in my career and continues to be a staple in my practice. The ability to listen. I spend time with my patients, to listen and truly understand what they want and what their skincare goals are. Then I create a care plan that delivers the results they want. There is no cookie-cutter approach in my office. Let’s be honest; your appearance is a big deal and can affect nearly every aspect of your life. If you feel healthy, youthful, and vibrant… you also feel happy, confident, and ready to tackle any challenge that comes your way. Some of my patients get emotional when they realize that I can help them feel this way, and I love those moments.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck has not played a role in my life or business. I feel fortunate to be where I am at today, which is a result of hard work, always pushing myself to learn more, and having the constant drive to become better at what I do. I also believe that making good decisions along the way has helped contribute to my success. I have always seen opportunities in life as “doorways”. It is up to you to recognize them when they open and walk through them.
