Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Treat.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started animating about six years ago, as a hobby, a way to express creativity. When my family moved to New Zealand, we ran into some financial trouble, so I tried to pitch in making little stop motion animations through Fiver. I decided to start posting my animations online, and they quickly began to get views and opportunities began arriving. Today I have worked for multiple large brands such as Hermès and Amazon.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The motivation was always a large struggle, never to create but to get through other things that got in the way. The whole time I’ve been animating, I have also been a full-time student. Finding time to do everything has been a great struggle.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Stop Motion Animator. I have gained an audience of one million followers on Tiktok 128 thousand on Instagram. I have worked for multiple massive brands such as Amazon, Hermès, Warner Music, Rhino Shield… My age might be what has set me apart. I have just turned 18 in a field mostly dominated by an older generation. An art form mostly unfamiliar with social media.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Fort Collins has been my home. I was born in Belview and moved to Fort Collins when I was 8. I love the old town, CSU and the mountains. I would have to say I am not a big fan of how fast-paced life is here; it seems hard to build solid relationships.
