Meet Blair Nelson, Amelia Earhart and Risa Friskey of 9NEWS and Colorado & Company in Speer Blvd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blair Nelson, Amelia Earhart and Risa Friskey.

Blair, Amelia and Risa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
KUSA (also known as 9NEWS) launched Colorado & Company (CoCo) more than 15 years ago as the first ‘pay-to-play’ show in the marketplace. Providing clients, community partners and customers the opportunity to share their message to CoCo viewers. The success of the show has been built on the ideas, passion and interests of the Colorado & Company audience. In 2020, KUSA’s Colorado & Company has its first new host in its 15-year history.

Amelia Earhart is moving from her position as a 9NEWS traffic reporter to taking on the hosting responsibilities of the vibrant morning sponsored lifestyle show. Amelia will be spearheading the show with two women behind camera, Risa Friskey (Executive Producer, Colorado & Company) and Blair Nelson (Director of Marketing and Brand, 9NEWS).

Colorado & Company features a mix of sponsored and lifestyle content. “With Amelia on staff, we can step out of the box and innovate how ‘COCO’ looks and feels,” says Executive Producer Risa Friskey, “We’ll engage viewers in new, exciting ways. It’ll be fun to watch!”

Has it been a smooth road?
In show business, it’s never smooth- but that’s why we love it. Nelson says “More than ever, clients want integrated and creative solutions to help boost their businesses. We have a big opportunity to rise and deliver greater results.”

Finding the right candidate proved to be a longer search than anticipated with over 100 candidates from across the country were considered for the position. Little did we know the right candidate was right under our nose. Friskey knows the job is demanding. “Hosting ‘COCO’ is no small feat…it takes a high level of sincere curiosity, enthusiasm and warmth to be successful. Amelia in an influencer she embodies the positive energy, community spirit and creativity our viewers and guests deserve.”- Risa
