Today we’d like to introduce you to Bob Bell.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Food for Thought Denver started after a simple conversation with a DPS teacher who was lamenting the fact that over 90% of her school population of 350 children didn’t have a consistent source of food over their weekends

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Overall, the road has been incredibly smooth. People are good and want to help others. When a clear path is put in front of them that allows them to react, participate and engage-they will. Of course, there are always modest struggles when your cause in 100% volunteer and has no staff, buildings trucks or overhead of any kind but in comparison to the reward they are nothing.

Food for Thought Denver – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We provide weekend Powersacks of 12-15 non-perishable food items to over 10,000 DPS and APS students in Title One schools where the average income for a family of four tops out at $29k/yr. We provide these packs each week of their school year to bridge the gap between their school food option not existing over the weekend.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is defined as watching a movement make a tangible difference in the lives of complete strangers while building a community of like-minded people who are driven to sustain that effort and become a family.
