Meet Bonnie Nugent and Nicole Aguilar of The CORE Team AKA The Colorado Real Estate Team

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bonnie Nugent and Nicole Aguilar.

Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Bonnie & Nicole both had a roundabout path to the Real Estate industry.

Bonnie: I first got a dose of real estate life when I owned childcare centers and strip malls across the Front Range in the early 2000’s. My background is in Psychology which helps deal with stressful or challenging situations. Bonnie is a Colorado native and graduated high school in Lafayette at CEntaurus High School before going onto college, running several businesses, and raising her son, who now is in college.

Nicole: My first introduction to real estate was my first internship while I was in college. I started a production assistant at a small advertising agency that exclusively worked with new homes builders and developers. I was promoted through the company and eventually ran their production department. During the 2008 housing crash, the small company unfortunately folded. I was able to find a few other jobs in the same field, but unfortunately housing did not get better for some time and I kept getting laid off as companies across the board were reducing their marketing budget. My husband’s job relocated us to Autin, Texas and I took my project management skills to some other fields. I freelanced for a tech startup company, a small marketing company, and a large animal rescue. THEN we were relocated again to Westminster, CO! I knew I couldn’t go back to working FOR someone else, and because I actually enjoyed the whole process of finding us a home in each new state, my husband suggested I look into real estate!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Many things were serendipitously easy – MOST things were not. We both found Keller Williams Preferred Realty on our own, and we met each other while working on a leadership team there. We enjoyed working with each other and realized that we complemented each other’s work styles and strengths and weaknesses REALLY well so we decided to partner up! Let us tell you – being your own boss is one thing. Having a successful partnership is NOT always easy! It’s so much like a relationship it’s scary. But just like those relationships, our business partnership is so much stronger because of the hurdles we have worked through and our clients benefit from that strength!

Please tell us about The CORE Team at Keller Williams Preferred Realty.
We founded The CORE Team together. Since then we have become a top team in our office! We both dedicate everything we have to our clients needs. We work hard to keep our client’s money in their pockets. Our buyers get the best deals on their purchases and our sellers get the profits they need from their sales. One of our favorite clients to work with is first time home buyers. There are few things as satisfying as taking someone who has no idea what they can afford and helping them learn, gain self confidence, and then hand them keys to their very first home! But that’s not to say that we don’t enjoy working with our other clients – investors, families moving into a larger (or smaller) home… we love them all!

We work hard… AND we play hard! We both love to volunteer for animal rescues in the North Metro area. We also highlight adoptable pets on our social media channels and our monthly newsletter! Between the two of us we have 10 adopted animals! We also love to take advantage of all Colorado has to offer – hiking, snow sports, bike rides on our awesome bike trails, kayaking… so many great things to do here. We also love going out to try new food. Nicole is a vegetarian/sometimes vegan and it’s fun to find out of the box food choices. Bonnie is a movie buff and has directed a few films here in Colorado, too!
