Meet Brian Galetta of The Brian Galetta Agency- Farmers Insurance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Galetta.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Not a Native to Colorado but have lived here since the age of 5, minus 5 years I spent in the USMC. I still live in the same house/neighborhood that I grew up in, so being that I am almost 32 years old, that is almost 25 years already that I have spent in the same community. I fall in love with where I live on a daily basis and am thankful to have the opportunities that I do here. After getting out of the USMC in 2011, I started going to school at Pikes Peak Community College, with the intention of becoming a Physical Therapist. Through various conversations, educational experiences, and working multiple jobs (of which working for a Farmers Agent was one of), I decided that Physical Therapy wasn’t actually what I wanted to do, so I shifted gears and decided to get my degree in Strength and Conditioning with the plans to go on and become a D1 or higher level Strength and Conditioning Coach. During my senior year of college, now at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), I was lucky enough to have the most amazing internship assisting the Strength and Conditioning Coaches of the Army 10th Special Forces Group THOR3 (Tactical Human Optimization, Rapid Rehabilitation and Reconditioning) program! Ironically enough, this internship is also what made me realize that my Passion for Health and Fitness wasn’t in working with Special Forces Soldiers or Elite Level Athletes, I wanted to work with Grade-level Kids, which I was already doing as an assistant high school wrestling coach back at the HS I graduated from, Sand Creek High School in Colorado Springs, Co. What I realized while interning for the THOR3 Program was that I was passionate about Young people, and I wanted to influence truly meaningful change in their lives. With that being said, my senior year of college was coming to an end and I had to decide what I was going to do. Should I go on to a Graduate Program and Further my education, or should I use the experience that I had and knowledge of the Insurance Industry to start my own business, and work hard enough that hopefully 5 or 10 years down the road I would be able to revisit my passion for Health/Fitness and working with youth in addition to being a local business owner? The knowledge and experience I had in the industry definitely played it’s part, but furthermore I saw the insurance industry as a great opportunity to get further involved in my local community; as a way to support First Responders, Military, Teachers, and even local businesses and non-profits. So in 2016 I started my own Business and became an Agent with Farmers Insurance.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth isn’t really one of the first adjectives that come to mind when describing what it’s like to start your own business, or at least it wouldn’t be in my case.  Unless you’ve been groomed in Business, Finance, Human Resources, Accounting, etc., I would say starting a business is more like “Drinking water from a Fire Hose,” you get blasted in the face with tasks like developing a business plan, creating a business entity with the state, hiring employees, creating marketing strategies, renting an office space, buying a lot of things that you aren’t quite sure how you can afford, etc., but again this is just what it was like for me.  With that being said though, I truly enjoy a Challenge, I enjoy Learning, and I try to do my best to just enjoy the process. I don’t ever want to become complacent, in business or my personal life, so while I have learned that it is no doubt beneficial to plan ahead, I take this road one day at a time.

Let’s talk about business. Tell us about The Brian Galetta Agency- Farmers Insurance – what should we know?
The Brian Galetta Agency of Farmers Insurance is pretty self-explanatory in that I (Brian Galetta) am a licensed insurance agent and registered financial representative with Farmers Insurance and Farmers Financial Solutions. We solicit and service Auto, Home, Life , Business, and Recreational Product insurance policy holders, as well as offer financial services such as ROTH/Traditional IRA’s, 401k Rollovers, Individual Brokerage Investment Accounts, and Variable Insurance Products. We specialize in and are most proud of doing what is right for the people we serve. We do that by Educating our clients to make the best decisions possible for themselves and their families, businesses, employees, etc. We aren’t here to be pushy or coercive, for the most part people are required to have what we sell, but people are not required to be adequately covered for their individual needs and own best interests. What I hope sets us apart from others is our Knowledge, our Commitment to Unmatched Customer Service, and our involvement in the Community.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Man…… This could be a long list! First and foremost, I am proud to say that I am a person of Faith, committed to living a life of Loving others because my Lord and Savior Loved me first! With all of the ups and downs, bumps and bruises, and twists and dips in the road, my Faith in God is what keeps Joy in my Heart and puts my mind at ease knowing things will work out as they are designed to. From there, I could literally make a list starting with my parents, mentioning various friends, teachers, and coaches that have all impacted my life, and eventually getting to the mentors, supporters, cheerleaders, teammates, and clients that have all played major roles in the success of my business so far, but to summarize that, I firmly believe that it “takes a village” to raise a child, and even past the “child” phase it takes a village to raise a well-rounded individual. I have learned and continue to learn so much from other people:

My mom taught me to not make excuses, and to just work my butt off until I finished what I needed to.

My best friends dad taught me that as a Man, I’ll never be perfect, but I should always do my best to Love and care for my Family.

My coaches pushed me mentally and physically, taught me sportsmanship on the field, and to be a good person off of it.

My teachers saw potential in me and gave me tools to facilitate Life Long Learning, which I am so grateful for.

Other Agents and business people have mentored me on what good business practices are, what it takes to be successful in the long run.

My clients, well I wouldn’t have a business without them. They hold me accountable, ask me to prove the things I say that me and my business are about.

Then there are people like Brooke Orist and Kate Zweber, owners of Sasquatch cookies, who inspire me to be better just by being awesome themselves and Loving our Community through their lives and businesses, and wonderful people like you guys (VoyageDenver) who spread love and support by telling stories and sharing passion…
