Today we’d like to introduce you to Brie McMahon.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Brie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was a stay at home mom of three. Room mom, coach, PTA vice president… sounds exhausting? It was! But I did it anyway, maybe because I was a little nuts, but mostly because I wanted to stay involved for my kids. It was until my divorce that I needed to consider starting a career for myself. Little did I know that I had developed skills through my years of volunteering that I could apply to the workforce. So, I began in the non-profit world in 2015. Through my connections with members and volunteers, I was recommended for a position at The Chamber of Commerce. A combination of experience, communications, and strong public relation skills led me to create a position of dedicated customer service by connecting businesses with resources to grow and thrive. With a little over 260 businesses that I work with, I continue to see the value of personal connection and humor as a way to support the community and local businesses in Northwest Douglas County.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When working with so many business owners and representatives, it can never be completely smooth! I’ve learned to deal with many different personalities and business challenges which has allowed me to adapt and maintain a certain level of professionalism and compassion.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am the Membership Development Director at The Chamber of Northwest Douglas County. My focus is on membership sales, retention and member programs. I’m most proud of the relationships that I have developed with all of our members in some way, shape or form. What sets me apart from others? Not much… I am just like all those hardworking females out there who love what they do and show a genuine passion for kindness and caring for others. When a business succeeds, I succeed. Regardless of who I am dealing with, I remain myself, confident in my ability to interact with others and provide support and services to all of our members. Every member is important to me and I treat each of them with respect and consideration. And I’m funny. I think…
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My future planning consists of growing our organization into a larger and stronger business community in Northwest Douglas County. I look forward to seeing more businesses flourish and be a part of their success.
