Meet Bryan Tanner of Tanner Autism Services of Colorado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Tanner.

Bryan, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Tanner Autism Services of Colorado began its journey when I set up a business providing ABA therapy to individuals on the autism spectrum and their families in Shreveport Louisiana. When he moved to Colorado in 2002, TASLa (its name at the time) became TASC and was refounded in Colorado in February of 2016. We grew from a one-man show to a husband and wife team, and have been mindfully and steadily growing ever since. We began working in Denver, then our Denver branch closed to refocus our efforts in our home of Northern Colorado, where we saw (And still see) a great need.

We are pleased to provide services now to clients from Greeley to the Fort Collins and Loveland foothills, and from Milliken to Wellington.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In every business there are obstacles, and I feel that for businesses whose focus it is to serve clients the way ours does, unique challenges emerge. Our value-based focus on genuine, high quality, community-minded, ethical, and honest services over financial gain sometimes cause short term financial difficulties that businesses who do not have a behavioral or educational product do not see. Our attentive and personalized service presents unique challenges and we have needed to make difficult decisions, but as long as we’ve remained focused on our company values and mission, we have been able to know when the right time to make those decisions has come.

Please tell us about Tanner Autism Services of Colorado.
We pride ourselves on serving families in need of behavioral support for their loved ones with Autism and challenging behavior as quickly as we possibly can, We place a primary focus on family training to support our client’s independence. We are pioneering Applied Behavior Teleanalysis in Colorado and are grateful for the opportunity to serve those who may not otherwise be able to receive the life-changing support that well-done Applied Behavior Analysis can provide. Finally, our focus to empower staff growth through ongoing education and support separates us, I believe, as an employee destination. These are certainly just words to the reader, but our families and employees really feel it in action and my heart is warmed when I know I’ve done a good job with those things that make us unique.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wish I had started serving our clients sooner. I am grateful, though, to all the companies I have worked for in Denver, San Jose, and Louisiana who taught me the importance of treating people well and making sure they feel supported. It is full speed ahead, though, so looking back I don’t think I would’ve changed a thing. I wasn’t ready until I was ready and that makes the work we’re doing now more fulfilling.
