Meet Cat Tatman and Mary Butler of Intelligent Elixirs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Butler & Cat Tatman.

Cat and Mary, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We co-founded Intelligent Elixirs in 2017. We worked together previously for almost ten years with a company that created skincare and cosmetics for the professional marketplace – (meaning plastic surgeon, dermatologist and aestheticians). After many years in the professional market, we recognized the need for reasonably priced, skincare products that were accessible, easy to use, with clean formulations that deliver results. We approach things differently, which has always been a great benefit; it was exciting to start a new company that combined both of our visions. Additionally, we both have an entrepreneurial mindset and thoroughly enjoy the challenges that it brings.

Has it been a smooth road?
There is always the unexpected with a start-up, but all in all it has been relatively smooth as we both have a great deal of experience developing products. That said, like any company, we have had our fair share of challenges. In those instances practicing patience, creativity and strategic thinking is the name of the game. And the bright side of obstacles is they often lead us to a better end result than where we previously started. Additionally, working with someone you trust and respect helps tremendously.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a clean, clinical skincare line that delivers results comparable to professional products, but at a more moderate price point. Our products are formulated with clinical ingredients at therapeutic levels, which are more commonly found only in the professional market. We’ve intentionally created a collection that is small, concise and easy to use. We do lots of events where we get to meet consumers and what we often notice is that people are ‘over-treating’ their skin and using too many products, causing more harm than good. The key to healthy skin is using clinical ingredients that protect, repair & restore the skin and being consistent with your regimen.

We specialize in offering clean, efficacious skincare that everyone can afford and although we love all of our products we are particularly proud of our 15% Vitamin C Anti-aging Serum. Our Vitamin C Serum is stellar. It’s similar to a Vitamin C serum that you would get from a doctor or at a medi-spa, but those products cost $100+. Ours is a fraction of cost and delivers the same if not better results without toxic ingredients like fragrance, glycols and so on.

Aside from the price point and performance of our products, what also sets up apart is our focus on partnering with independently-owned businesses. Independent businesses are the hearts and souls of our communities. Working closely with them keeps us looped into what people are interested in and gives our customers the opportunity to offer specialized, unique products that aren’t available everywhere.

What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
The future, if only we had a crystal ball. We have a few new products on the horizon. Towards the end of the year, we will launch a multi-tasking lip product. It’s packed with great therapeutic, anti-aging ingredients, with a hint of color and shine. It will be available in two shades. We are also starting to get gain a following from aestheticians in addition to our specialty retailers, which is really exciting. Many aestheticians are offering quality services at a price point that allows their clients to make facials a routine part of their self-care… and they need products that perform but are also affordable. We’re a perfect match!
