Today we’d like to introduce you to Cera Marquez.
Cera, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
One of the questions that I get asked is “Are you CC?” In a way yes, but also no. My name is Cera and I am one of the proprietors at CC Styles by.
I have always been really interested in outfitting and styling. My family gave me a sewing machine very early in my teens and it gave me a sort of freedom to experiment. I was also lucky enough to have ample hand-me-downs to cut up and practice on. For me, fashion has never been about what is, rather what could be. CC Styles is a beautiful extension of that idea.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
CC Styles by did not just happen by accident or chance, of course, it took a lot of hard work, long devoted hours, sleepless nights, and I am still working at it each and every day, like many entrepreneur girl bosses out there I often felt/feel like giving up however the power to create and being able to be hands-on with every element of the process for my brand leading to where I am today fills my heart constantly with joy and that is what continues to get me out of bed each day motivated by the endless possibilities of ‘what can I create today…’
I never ever want to stop creating. It’s like oxygen to me.
We’d love to hear more about your business.

What were you like growing up?
HA! I was a hoot growing up let me tell you what. I should have known back then that my adult life would be far from the ordinary. I was adopted at the age of three by my grandparents. I had siblings.. some older and some younger but I was raised as an only child. Left to entertain myself often I would set up “photoshoots” with my Barbie dolls. Staging them for success! Work. I even vividly remember drawing flat sketches from movies I would watch as a kid; more specifically The Sound of Music and Legally Blonde (I wish I had saved those to laugh at today!) In high school I was nominated ‘most school spirit’ and best believe that involved a lot of hand made pep rally garb and crafted costumes whenever the option presented itself. I still to this day love to have fun with creating and styling myself and others. I feel that is what makes fashion so interesting because WE HAVE TO WEAR CLOTHES; why not have fun with it?!
