Meet Chad Bolsinger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad Bolsinger.

Chad, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
There are so many small details that make up a greater story. There’s a lot more to my life story than my journey with art. Briefly, I got into art after finding a part of my true self when I was 20 years old. I was going to school for business and hated every aspect of it while remaining confused about the meaning of life, I would paint and draw to vent. I had so many feelings and ideas I wanted to release and the painting was my therapy. Everyone around started to compliment my art and I knew it was gifting or talent I had to pursue. I moved up into the mountains, to be closer to nature and God and get away from a lot of darkness that had followed me. Growing up, I had seen a harsh reality of addiction and brokenness in my family, I had trauma and didn’t know how to cope so I used drugs and committed crimes. I had a supernatural experience at 18 that changed everything for me but it wasn’t until later on when I really started to find myself. I graduated from college with a BA in fine art, I made it a point, that art was going to be my ticket to see and experience the world. Now, I travel and paint in really cool places, while making a steady living as a full-time artist.

Has it been a smooth road?
Very rough road for me, I know it’s a blessing in disguise because I have a profound appreciation for those smooth seasons of not as much intense heartache. I’ve had major battles with anxiety a huge chunk of my life, paralyzing fear and a lot of hallucinations. I’ve had rejection from every angle, people I trust or love betraying me or telling me I would never make it. I’ve had insomnia, addiction, mental illness, death threats, stolen cars, the list goes on life’s not always fair. All of these things, even all my weakness lead me to a place of surrender which gave me more strength than anything I could even imagine.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I paint murals and street art, I do art installations and canvas paintings but mostly paint with spray paint-large scale walls around cities. I specialize in surrealism and creating art with depth and vibrancy. I am most proud of creating works of art with a soul attached, I put a lot of heart into my work and always push myself. I’m also proud of international travels, local recognition and success in terms of a fully booked schedule months ahead. What sets me apart, I would say and what others have said my style. My work all looks like it’s connected, it’s looks mystical or spiritual but also realistic and bold.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
This city is a great place to be an artist, it’s a privilege here-there’s been a lot of other hardworking artists that worked hard to create communities and opportunities for other artists. Their sacrifices gave us the privilege to create in this city. This is a great place to start, it’s where I started my professional career and it’s lead me to be successful. All the tools are here.
