Meet Chaya Abrams of Zarkor Treatment and Supervision Services in Lakewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chaya Abrams.

Chaya, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been a psychotherapist and counselor educator and supervisor in private practice for the past several years. My experiences as a faculty member within several Master’s level counseling programs throughout Colorado have prompted a passion to offer qualitative clinical supervision within the private sector in addition to my role within the university setting. Additionally, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Addictions Counselor in the State of Colorado and equally, enjoy the practice of psychotherapy.

Has it been a smooth road?
The counseling and helping relationships profession is anything but neat and smooth. It involves many ethical decision-making processes, diverse roles, effective boundary setting, and above all- a deep acknowledgment of Self as counselor and counselor educator. Along this path, I have had many questions and still do. Thankfully, I am blessed to be associated with several professional communities who consistently offer support, guidance, and an effective discussion forum for such topics.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
In my private practice, I offer psychotherapy, clinical supervision for professionals working toward LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) and CAC (Certified Addictions Counselors) licensure, and training/educational services for counseling professionals. I am often asked to serve as a clinical supervisor for former students (only after graduation for ethical purposes) in their new counseling positions, which is an honor and pleasure. This promotes the continuity of excellence within the counseling profession and I am blessed to sustain meaningful relationships in this manner.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel the business location is excellent. It is easily accessible via public transportation and close to downtown Denver and other Denver Metro neighborhoods. For beginning professionals, I would suggest targeting location based on client needs, demand, and personal convenience.
