Meet Chris Carter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Carter.

Hi Chris, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We were long-time friends before we started playing music together. Then in 2016 all the bands that we were playing in separately broke up around the same time. I, Chris, had a small tour booked for my former band (see to center) and asked Elvin to come along and help play the shows. Elvin’s former band (aspen hourglass) had just broken up as well. The tour went really well and we decided to keep working together. This is where the band name, Venture Still, came from. The meaning is to keep trying or keep going since that is what we decided to do with our music.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think any artist would say that it’s smooth sailing when pursuing a career in this area. We do it because we love it but that does not make it easy all the time. But like our name says, we just keep going, Venture Still.

Who knew how expensive studio time would be? We recorded an EP at the blasting room in Fort Collins in 2016, and we went into HUGE credit card debt over it. It took us three years of constant shows to pay off the recording time and interest on that one five track EP. Since then, we have been recording singles one at a time to avoid falling into debt again.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Venture Still is a band based in Fort Collins.

We play acoustic pop rock or in other words. – If Coldplay and Jack Johnson adopted Portugal the man and Taylor Swift’s child and raised it as their own = Venture Still.

I, Chris, write the songs and Elvin brings his immense wealth of music theory and piano knowledge to help boost the songs to higher levels.

Our most recent single “Need to Know” was just released and is one we are very proud of. It’s available on all music streaming platforms and there is a video on YouTube and Facebook.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
The Colorado music scene from Fort Collins to Denver has been such an amazing community. Music seems to be booming like crazy everywhere and you can find a band playing almost any night of the week.
