Meet your ACS Associate Board of Ambassadors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris DiMassa, Alex White, Brooke Manning and Becca Blomquest.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the organization, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The group was driven by the board of the American Cancer Society in Denver to encourage emerging leaders to get more involved in the community. Once the group was established, we took it upon ourselves to develop a board, plan for membership, fundraising goals and a path for more community engagement. As we continue to grow, we are going to create opportunities for volunteering, community fundraising events, and networking. While the core mission for our board is to raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer, we also see it as an avenue to get like-minded individuals connected.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
While the American Cancer Society is a well-established brand across the country, the ABOA is still working to establish who we are here in Denver. Creating the structure of the organization is a fun challenge we’ve enjoyed taking on, we’re working on it and it we’ll continuously evolve as we continue to add committed members.

We’d love to hear more about your organization.
We have joined together to raise awareness in the fight against cancer. We are most proud knowing our efforts are going to save lives, and our events are going to bring people together for a stronger overall community engagement in Denver. It’s exciting to have a group of passionate individuals working together for a cause that means so much to us all.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
Within our first six months of being founded, we orchestrated a fundraising event that drew 35+ emerging leaders and raised more than $2,000 to help the American Cancer Society’s Road To Recovery program, which provides transportation services for local at need cancer patients. We’re looking forward to hosting more events like this to help bring more people together in the fight against cancer.
