Meet Christopher Robl of Physio Room in Highlands Ranch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Robl.

Christopher, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I guess it starts back in Kansas. I am the son/grandson of a wheat farmer and I am allergic to wheat dust. While growing up, I raced dirt bikes and suffered 23 broken bones and have eight major surgeries. That led me to my passion for PT and helping others. I used to own another clinic and the model forced to focus on high patient volumes and straining productivity demands. After several years I had finally reached my burnout point and decided I needed to make some significant changes. I sold my shares in the company, waited out my two year non-compete, and opened the doors to the new company on October 1, 2018. We changed the model completely and provide a PT experience unlike anyone else in the city. We have been voted best of the best in Highlands Ranch and continue to educate our team to provide the absolute best PT experience possible.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Insurance companies have entirely too much power and reimbursements continue to decline and this forces providers to see high volumes in order to maintain and operate a healthy business. This is why we left the healthcare “system” because it is broken. We have decided to not participate with these greedy health insurance companies and have decided to provide care out-of-network. The challenge we face is to educate the general public on what that means. We take their insurance, we bill their insurance, and the insurance company will send the client the reimbursements. More often than not, we save the patient time and money because they get a better service, get better quicker, and have to come fewer visits. Educating the public on the value of what they are receiving and not on the cost of the service.

We are more expensive per visit but that in the long run, it is often the most cost effective option. If we provided the same quality of service it wouldn’t make sense, but the value of seeing a Doctor of PT for 60 minutes per session and not being passed on to some tech/aide or juggled between three to four other clients at the same time. I guarantee you that you wouldn’t work with an accountant if they were having multiple conversations with multiple clients at the same time. Details matter and if you don’t have the time to provide the attention the client deserves, then you are going to miss the important details that will cost the client more in the long run. This is our challenge.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Physio Room story. Tell us more about the business. We strive to provide a physical therapy experience unlike anyone else in the city. We are the only clinic in town that allows our Doctorate trained PTs the opportunity to spend an hour of uninterrupted time with each client every time. We treat clients from 9 to 99 and everything in between. We specialize in the highly active individual. Meaning, if you want to push your body and rest isn’t the option you’re looking for, then we will provide movement modifications in order to keep you doing what you love to do. We work with runners, gymnast, crossfit, and cycling athletes. We help people perform better on the field and in life. If you are looking to hit your next PR or just want to be able to play with your grandkids, then we are the perfect fit for you. There is a big difference between completing PT and being “cleared” to work out and actually being able to play in that tennis match or run your next race. In addition to Sports Medicine, we also provide a Sports Recovery service as well. We help athletes prevent injuries and help the recover more efficiently than every before. We are the only PT clinic in the area with a class 4 laser to help treat tendonitis and overuse injuries. We have normatec compression boots, laser, vibrating foam rollers, percussion massage, and e-stim devices to as a part of our sports recovery membership option.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I believe that you make your own luck. My grandfather always told me that if you work hard, then good things will come. We are lucky enough to find clients that find value in what we do and trust us enough to refer their friends and family. Unfortunately, I had some bad luck while racing dirt bikes and that has led me to find a passion and a love for this profession. I can truly say that I am lucky to go to work every single day and it is so rewarding to help so many people get back to doing what they love to do.
