Meet Codi Patinella of Codiports in Platt Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Codi Patinella.

Codi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I took an interest in photography at a young age after always seeing my grandmother capturing our family’s special moments and each of her grandchildren’s sporting events. She gifted me with my first DSLR when I was 15 years old and that is when my love for photography began to grow. I didn’t always know that photography would be my career, but after college, I quickly realized that it was what I wanted to do. I spent the next couple of years building my wedding portfolio by working with two different companies as lead and second shooter. Eventually, I was able to book weddings on my own and break away into strictly independent work. I spent 2016-2018 focusing on weddings, engagements, and family sessions while simultaneously working as a food server at a fine dining restaurant in South Florida. Codiports began in April of 2018 when I picked up an interest in portrait photography and decided to start posting my work on Instagram. Over the next few months, my photos started to get a lot of traction and the page began to blow up! I moved to Denver in May of 2019 and have been fortunate to continue my business here, focusing on portraits, fashion brand work, and couples.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course not! Every part of the process has been tough, but that’s life. Anything worth doing won’t be easy!! From trying to find my style to committing myself to be a full-time photographer, I don’t think the struggles ever end. It gets easier in some ways and then new situations present themselves. The good news is that when you are doing what you love, all the struggles seem a little less difficult and you can enjoy the process more.

Tell us more about your business.
Codiports is a photography business I run that captures timeless, true beauty by finding light + freezing moments. I specialize in portraits, fashion, couples and weddings! I’m most proud of the responses I have gotten from clients knowing they will forever cherish the photos, there is nothing more valuable than that. What sets me apart from others is the final processing and retouching I do to my photos, it’s done in a way that naturally enhances the skin and colors while preserving the subject’s authentic self and giving the photo an overall clean, professional look.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Now that I am in Denver, my goal is to work with more brands and events in the hopes of networking a bit! The biggest change is adapting to working in a place that has seasons–I was spoiled in Florida being able to shoot outdoor year round.
