Meet Courtney Mamuscia of Juju Be Gone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Mamuscia.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am the founder and head creator of Juju Be Gone. I am a 40-year old entrepreneur, wife and mother to a spunky nine-year-old girl. Currently, we live in Denver, Colorado and love to take adventures around the globe – from a quick getaway to the mountains or jetting off somewhere amazing. I love supporting my amazing family and friends and try and give back whenever I can. I have spent most of my adult life working for corporate America, but have always had an itch to create something spectacular. And that’s when I approached my incredible friend and partner, Lisa Conner, and we built Juju Be Gone from just a simple idea and a lot of determination to what it is becoming today.

Juju Be Gone’s inspiration unfurled one evening around the dinner table as friends told tales of unfortunate woe: streaks of bad luck, dramatic breakups, and all sorts of things that drag us down and low at times in life. We decided that we needed to create a unique, positive gift collection designed to come to the rescue of everyone ‘out there’ in need of kicking bad juju to the curb, being uplifted, and given a virtual soul-hug. Solutions were imagined in the form of creatively curated energy-moving, mojo-building gift kits with all the right stuff contained inside to bring on lots of good vibes, laughter, and comfort while clearing out negative and stagnant energy.

Has it been a smooth road?
I wouldn’t say that anything is smooth sailing when launching a business. There are highs and lows and daily obstacles to overcome. As moms building and operating Juju Be Gone, we are constantly juggling between business and personal responsibilities. When we first launched, we had no idea how much inventory to order. That was a big challenge with carrying that overhead and to date we are still managing some inventory that isn’t moving as fast and others that we can’t keep on the shelf. In addition, we are continuing to find innovative ways to build our brand recognition and share the gift of good vibes to all those across the country. Being in marketing and branding, you would think that we have a leg up. And honestly we feel like we have done a great job with recognition, support, and awareness, but there are always more ways to spend time and energy to generate revenue and that’s a battle. What is the best way to spend money to bring about the biggest ROI? I wish there was one answer and as all of us business owners know, there is not. Along with these struggles are triumphs too. Like the feeling, we get when we hear the little ding on our phones signifying an order was placed. We literally all text each other and do little happy dances. We definitely wouldn’t be as far along as we are today without the support of our community.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Juju Be Gone – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Breaking up. Getting together. Losing someone. Welcoming someone new into the world. Life is full of momentous occasions both joyous and disheartening. And when the universe comes a-calling with one of its signature curveballs for you or a loved one, how can you show that person they’re cared for and send a little light their way? This is the question that Juju Be Gone’s positivity-promoting products and boxes answer.

We wanted to create a gift-giving company to help change the way people feel. We all know that the Universe can be a jerk sometimes. And because of that, wanted to be able to give people something to help move energy, change vibes and let them know how important they are. Juju is more than just a modern-day gift company. We believe in intentional gifting to teach people how to change their path, to welcome in the positivity and look at things differently. And, we wanted to introduce the rituals behind using tools to move, change and use the energy around – which is why we include an elevated smudge kit in each gift.

I love knowing that we are building gifts for those who need a little TLC. We spend time putting together a beautifully curated positively perfect gift that someone gets to experience on the other end. We get so many incredible testimonials that these gifts are truly unique, one-of-a-kind and make people feel loved. The whole idea behind Juju Be Gone is pay-it-forward gifting. We hope that someone will receive the gift and then want to make someone else feel as amazing as they did when they got one.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
Love the weather and the ability to easily transition from city-life to mountain adventures. It is also a growing city and very progressive. Love all the new restaurants and architecture and change. We have been in Denver collectively for many years and seen the progression. In some ways, I miss the old Denver where there was less traffic and it was more of a hidden “gem” of a city. But change is also good and having the diversity of the people coming into the city is perfect for business growth.
