Meet Cynthia Geiger of Fizz and Flutes a Lovely Bubbles in Northern Colorado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Geiger.

Cynthia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I saw an ad on Facebook with a cute little truck on it. I opened it and it was for a mobile prosecco truck in England. I was smitten! I learned all I could about these little companies that seemed to be everywhere in Europe and that’s when I knew I was bringing this idea to Colorado! I found the company in Europe that was taking these old little work trucks and transforming them into magnificent working mobile taps and commissioned my own! I set my daughters on a mission to come up with a catchy business name, business cards, etc. I hired liquor attorneys to learn about Colorado liquor laws and trademark attorneys. I joined networking groups to get my name and face out there. I learned the landscape the find my niche and I booked my first party! When my little Lovely Bubbles truck arrived nine months laters via shipping container on board a cargo ship across the Pacific Ocean, I was ready to go with Fizz and Flutes!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s not been a smooth road, metaphorically or literally. I had many tell me my business plan would fail right out of the gate. Liquor stores didn’t want to sell me the Prosecco in kegs as it was such a new and novel fad. Being a single woman, I had to have a crash course in learning about engines and trailer hitches and oil/gas ratios. I had to learn how to ask for and accept help a lot! I also wasn’t prepared for the high price of marketing! It seemed like I was constantly paying for advertising those first few months before I even made a penny!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fizz and Flutes a Lovely Bubbles – what should we know?
Fizz and Flutes is really a mobile party truck. I commissioned and imported a 1975 Piaggio Ape’ 3 wheeled truck from the rolling hills of Italy, where it was retrofitted with a flash cooled keg system to dispense sparkling bubbles. Be that Prosecco, beer, Kambucha or even cold brew nitro coffee! I am able to serve two beverages simultaneously. However, I am not a full-service bar. As per Colorado law, I am not allowed to sell alcohol, so those that hire me must purchase the alcohol and I simply serve it. I am TIPS certified from the state of Colorado to serve alcohol. The truck itself is about the same size as a golf truck and although I trailer it to the venue it is drivable to where you want it positioned within the venue. We provide up to 200 champagne flutes ( glass or plastic) and beverage napkins. We provide the extra enhancements for the Prosecco (i.g., Pop Rocks, flavored syrups & cotton candy). We also provide photo booth props and signage great for Instagram and Facebook posts.

Weddings have become my favorite as I strive to make it extraordinary and something the guests will not soon forget about their friends’ wedding! I incorporate the bride’s colors on the truck and signage on the truck to acknowledge both bride and groom. Birthday parties have also become popular and bridal showers are also fun with mimosa bars getting very creative! Every party-goer is happy to see me and even happier when the last glass of bubbly is gone!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My family, especially my children, have been huge supporters. My brother and sister in law step in with the heavy lifting and I have great neighbors who come running when something isn’t right with the Fizz mobile! The people I’ve met through my networking communities, especially the women entrepreneurs in the groups, have been the wind in my sales on many occasions when I’ve felt stranded on a stagnant pond!
