Meet D Garrett of D’z Handtinkered Artisan Worx in Southwest

Today we’d like to introduce you to D Garrett.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The short of it is, I have been making art in some form since I was a youth. I have recently built a lifestyle around art in all of its forms. I needed to create after spending so much time amid destruction, and a very destructive time in my life. I knew I could transform all of that by working through it with art.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh my no. The road has been rocky, fortunately now, I have a great support system of friends and family. One of the biggest struggles for me has been a lack of formal education. I am self-taught, so a lot of times I have had to do tons of research on the form and technique before completing work. That is a struggle at the time, and a benefit later.

D’z Handtinkered Artisan Worx – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Here at D’z Handtinkered Artisan Worx, I make handcrafted tools, and gifts for living magick. This allows me to live intentionally, and offer tools for folk who do/want the same.

I do have business hours, and am open to making viewing appointments, as I have a set up a small viewing space in front of my home. I provide classes and workshops on visual art and how it can be used intentionally. I also vend small art/craft shows and metaphysical shows. I don’t usually have an issue being unique, I believe myself to be set apart from others already as an individual and an artist so that is not a huge priority for me.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success is not necessarily defined the same as our modern societal view of success. There are a variety of definitions of success, depending on ones’ perceptions. I define success by one’s contribution to other humans, and the earth we live on. Financial success is not always part of that equation. For example, I would not necessarily consider a multi-million earning CEO of an eco-destructive company a success. That is why I provide classes, workshops, and make myself available to work very closely with my clients.
