Meet Dani Faulkenberry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dani Faulkenberry.

Dani, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Taking photos has always been one of the biggest parts of my life. I took photography classes all throughout high school, we had a dark room so I learned how to develop the film which is pretty neat. For the first few years of college, I kind of fell out of taking photos that weren’t taken from my phone. Around the end of my sophomore year, I started taking photos of friends! It wasn’t until I was out of college that my husband and I saved up so I could get myself a fancy new camera and do this thing for real. I officially became a business in July of 2018! So I am coming up on one year of running my own business. Beginning this Sunday, June 16th is the start of my first wedding season with about 15 weddings on my calendar!

Has it been a smooth road?
I wouldn’t say that it’s been a smooth road, but it’s definitely been fast moving. This is a business where it’s extremely easy to get caught up and compare your beginning to somebody else’s middle. I definitely find myself wishing I was at my prime and was extremely successful/popular, so I really have to remind myself to take a step back and remember it’s truly only been a year of doing this. I took photos of anyone and everyone for free for about the first 6 months, then I began charging people. That was a tough transition because it’s hard to determine what your worth is and how much people would be willing to pay for you to tell their story!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dani Faulkenberry Photography – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I run a photography business that specializes in weddings and couples! The thing I’m most proud of is my ability to tell a story through photos, I specialize in candid moments and movements instead of stagnant posing. It’s been difficult for me to learn this but I get better every session I have. I try to take the time to get to know my couples and tell their love story based on who they are as a couple and their traits.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
Oh man, I love living in Denver. As a photographer, the scenery is unbeatable. Epic mountain photos literally make my heart scream. What I like the least is all of the people moving here hahaha.
