Meet Daniel Dye of Native Rank in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Dye.

Daniel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Born in 1978 to humble surroundings, after 9th grade, I decided to drop out of school and began coach surfing at friends’ homes. Being a bit ambitious, I decided to enroll in a GED program at community college of Denver. As the majority of friends were older who also attended CCD and Metro. It could be said I was quite directionless after trying out many different jobs, from fast food to tire repair. I had always had bit of passion for technology and enjoyed working with computers. I was intrigued by the fact that if something went wrong, it was my mistake and not someone else’s perception of my intentions or any other prejudgment.

After bouncing around quite a bit, I landed at Qwest communications, (Century Link) as a TAC Engineer. It was a new experience working and interacting with people who thought like me. Being only 19 at the time, it was amazing to me to find an environment where I was wasn’t judged but embraced, there were no feelings of others feeling threatened or assuming, I was as a smart ass kid and my opinions were invalid. (I was a smart ass). It was one of the first times in my life I felt challenged and pushed to learn, being a fan of optimization and finding better ways to do things these skills and passions were encouraged and excepted. After the “Qwest” Merger with “UsWest” I decided to leave the company. Working a weekend job as a night club manager just to pass the time while I thought about my next steps in life a new opportunity arose to help with a pager/beeper startup online. If it wasn’t for the invention of the cell phone, might have been as big as Google. Learning in the ins and outs of a start-up business from the ground up was an eye-opening experience. Trying to drum up business with zero budget or experience definitely lead to my understanding of digital marketing.

After the pager’s decline in sales, we tried several other products like ginzu knifes novelty hearing aid products and other assorted items that resemble late-night info commercials. While being successful in online marketing, and in touch with the tech world, (it was much smaller back than), we started in affiliate marketing. We worked with upstart companies like Netflix, eBay, Zynga to help get them users to their service. We were only paid for each user we who registered for the service.

Around 2008, after quite a few falling outs and difference of opinions, I decided to leave the company. Not knowing what I was going to do next and even contemplating just taking a few years off to “find myself” (Nearing 30 years old, which I never expected to see) Within a couple of months a friend (George Avery, Native Rank’s CEO) reached out to me and asked if I was interested in starting a new company. After realizing taking a few years off, would only resulted in my going stir crazy and truly losing myself I drove right in, in trying to drum up business like any start-up all I keep hearing is that’s great but I don’t sell to the whole country, I have a storefront and Native Rank was born. We wanted to provide service that helped local businesses as well as national. Through Local Seo, SEO, Website Design, and a whole variety of Digital Marketing Solutions Native Rank is going strong 12 years later.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
To say was it smooth road, I would respond with is it ever. Over the years, it was definitely a learning experience that continued everyday. Being directly responsible for other people’s futures, careers and livelihoods required a major mental change to ensure the success of the business while balancing the aspect of people. In 2010 I became a father which was a landslide of emotions and culture change for myself. Trying to adapt from 12 workdays, going straight to the hottest club, and rise and repeat to balancing the needs of family and work. After realizing I was now a role model and example in the world, I self judged myself by my limited education, I decided to enroll in online degree programs through, Microsoft, Columbia, and MIT. Trying to see if I could stand with the best of the best without any idea the time and resources required was quite a surprise.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Native Rank – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Native Rank is a premier provider of digital marketing and advertising solutions. At Native Rank, we know that to grow your business you must have a winning formula for success, and we strive to provide that every day for our clients. Our mission is to be the premier agency for our clients by picking the correct combination of solutions that deliver the kind of results that matter and translate into real business. We do that by providing a customized solution for each client that matches their needs and goals. Our goal is to enable our clients to focus on their business and leave the stress and nuances of digital marketing to us.

Native Rank started in early 2010 to solve the problem of businesses getting taking advantage of through bad data and poor results. Our Founder and CEO, George Avery experienced what it’s like to work with bad digital marketers and had the epiphany: “They’re doing this to every one of their clients.”

Most agencies stick to a formula or gimmicks that provide very little value and are often ineffective. Even when not dealing with an agency, there are many inexperienced people out there who can’t get the results needed to be successful in the digital space. After setting out to provide a true digital marketing service, the sticking points to set us apart were: provide realistic strategies, report accurate information, and be a dependable resource. So we built an incredible team and process, and we focus on proven strategies, techniques, and technology. We’ve been kicking ass ever since.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I think one of the biggest changes we will see if moving part of our workforce to a full work at home model, with the impacts of Covid-19, we feel Work from Home models will be a mainstay for the considerable future.
