Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle and Joe Lee.
Danielle and Joe, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We are a family-owned and operated loose leaf tea and handmade goods business with a goal in mind: connect with our community and provide quality products. Choosing Denver Tea Co means you are supporting a small local business which unites our community, enables us to follow our dreams and provides consumers with a better product.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A challenge that Denver Tea Co has faced has been how to get our products into consumers’ hands without having a storefront. Being that we primarily get our products in front of people at local events and farmers markets, COVID 19 has posed a new challenge. We have adapted where we are able to and rely on our community to purchase our products online now more than ever. We have partnered with a subscription service called Nourish Boxes, who create beautiful boxes with handcrafted Colorado products. A new online farmers market through Arvada Farmers Market, called Edible Market just launched featuring Denver Tea Co products alongside other great local brands. We have our products in Colorado Vintage and Art Market in Littleton, who are offering curbside pickup and online sales through Etsy, and we are at The Co-Op at 1st in Denver. We are so lucky to have partnered with so many great services to try and get our product in the hands of tea lovers everywhere.
Please tell us about Denver Tea Co.
Denver Tea Co was created after the birth of our daughter Evie. This major event in our life made my husband (Joe), and I reevaluate what is important and made us realize that we wanted to start something that we were both passionate about. During my pregnancy, and after Evie’s birth, my family was so conscientious about the products we use and consume, and we wanted to be part of making and selling those types of high-quality products.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be all of the times my sister and I played dress-up together and transported ourselves to different places with our vivid imaginations.
