Meet David Dimmer of Fyin.com in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Dimmer.

David Dimmer originally hails from Northeastern Wisconsin. His dad, a seasoned software developer, sparked an early interest in technology and programming. David’s brother, Ken, caught the same bug. The boys were writing programs starting in early childhood. David was barely old enough to vote when he started Fyin.com. He’s not big on titles, but David serves as the company’s managing director. His singular approach to developing partnerships and leveraging technology in unique ways has resulted in a successful and satisfying career path.

Moving the Fyin.com headquarters from Milwaukee to Denver was a big change, but then again, David has never been afraid of change. Ken has continued to be a critical part of the journey and today serves as Fyin.com’s Operations Manager.

Becoming an Umbraco Gold Partner was another significant step for the company. Over time, Fyin.com has emerged as one of the largest Umbraco Gold Partners in the U.S. In addition to providing custom web solutions, we have expanded our offerings to include a wide variety of digital marketing services including PPC advertising, SEO, Email Marketing and User Experience.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
David will be the first to tell you that Fyin.com’s success has not been a straightforward journey. He’s blessed (or perhaps cursed) with an entrepreneurial spirit that keeps him from giving up even when times are hard. He persevered in growing the company even in the face of world-changing events like the dot-com crash, 9/11, the 2009 recession, and other economic and global challenges along the way.

In 2013, David came close to accepting a lucrative full-time position in Chicago. Instead, he re-focused his mental and physical energies on building Fyin.com. He says, “Maybe I wasn’t smart enough to quit. There’s always another opportunity to chase.”

Please tell us about your business.
Fyin.com is an Umbraco Gold Partner one of the first agencies in North America to achieve that status. Several of our team members are Umbraco Masters, having achieved virtually every certification offered by Umbraco. Our team also boasts expertise in PPC advertising, SEO, Email Marketing, User Experience, and ADA compliance.

While it’s true that our clients come to us for digital solutions of all kinds, we don’t think of the work we do in terms of projects. Instead, we build long term relationships with our partners. David often tells clients, “Think of us as your best employee.” Our partnership model, based on flat monthly fees is unique and allows our clients to flex up and down depending on their needs at any given time. We operate in a fully transparent way. The feedback we receive from our partners is that they appreciate our ability to operate as an extension of their team.

David says that he is proud of the strength of the Fyin.com team and the way each member goes the extra mile. We feel as invested in the success of our partners as they do. “We truly care,” David often says.

Do you have any future plans?
At Fyin.com, we are heavily focused on Umbraco and .NET development, but we always have an eye on the future, too. As companies become aware of the importance of ADA compliance, we are receiving more and more requests for help with accessibility. We are also increasing our focus on all aspects of digital marketing, including paid ads.

As far as big changes go, we are currently in the process of moving into our new office on Broadway. (We have team members in Wisconsin and Georgia as well.) We’ve outgrown our old space and plan to hire more experts in 2020. We love the vibe of the Baker District and are excited to be part of that eclectic, historic neighborhood.
