Meet David Knudsen of Meta Talent Group in Capitol Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Knudsen.

David, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up in a family of small business owners, the impetus to follow suit was ingrained at a young age. After working in the hospitality industry for more than a decade, I began my entrepreneurial career as co-founder of a restaurant in San Francisco called Cafe Okawari. At this time, my brother Derrick had spent several years perfecting his craft in the executive recruiting space. After countless discussions about the parallels of both fields, we realized we had very complementary skillsets and decided it was time to found our own recruiting firm; so began Meta Talent Group.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
COVID threw a nice snag into our plans but we were not deterred and see a lot of potentials as companies will need to begin rehiring sooner than later. Other than that, there are always challenges starting a family business but coming from a family of six brothers and sisters total, we feel confident we’ll get through all obstacles in our path.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Ultimately, we would like to create a portfolio of clients and candidates that will stay with us for the long term considering we are a specialized, small firm that offers a very personal experience.
