Meet David McLaughlin of Sati Organics in Lyons

Today we’d like to introduce you to David McLaughlin.

David, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I first heard about CBD three to five years ago and didn’t think much about it and had never tried it. Many friends had told me they had great results so in the fall of 2018 I tried some and really liked it. The more I learned the more interested I became and instead of becoming a sales rep for someone else I decided to start my own company, create a killer brand and provide fantastic products. There were a few CBD drinks on the market early in 2019 and for me they were either flavorless or too sweet so I wanted to create a drink that I would want to consume myself. It took six months of R & D with a PHD to get the right formulation but we finally launched Sati CBD Soda in October 2019. The feedback and excitement has been amazing! We feel that Hemp is an incredible plant and can be beneficial many different ways! We’re excited to launch Sati Hemp Soda this week which has no CBD or THC but has EFA’s and is really good for you! It’s a clean, functional beverage which we hope to disrupt the unhealthy soda market with healthy sodas that are good for people!

Has it been a smooth road?
Hemp and CBD are a fairly new market so in being new and different there’s lots of education needed and that can slow business some. Federal regulation is still in the works and many states have taken it upon themselves to govern CBD products for their consumers. The 2018 Farm Bill made Hemp legal in all 50 states on a Federal level but there’s still lots of layers to it. Hopefully, things will become more clear soon so business for reputable companies will become easier and access to high quality products will be more widely available.

Covid has obviously been challenging for us!

We were set to exhibit in the Hot New Products section of Expo West (the largest food & beverage Expo in the world) the first week of March but Covid forced it to be canceled as well as a dozen other Hemp/CBD trade shows that we were excited to share our Sati Sodas at!

That’s been a set back for sure and lost opportunities for those of us start up companies!

Sati Organics – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Sati Organics is committed to making high quality products at an affordable price. Sati is short for Sativa and we use Organic ingredients whenever possible. The majority of our ingredients are Certified Organic. We started our brand with 18 tinctures, sprays and topicals. Then our three flavors of soda came out and it was clear that this was where we needed to focus so we’re becoming more of a Hemp and CBD Soda company. We’re committed to creating high quality products and providing great customer service. We want to help people and if drinking our soda with good for you ingredients can replace some of the sodas that have 30-50 grams of sugar in them, well, we’re all for it!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Lyons, just north of Boulder and west of Longmont, it’s a small-town of 2000 people. We’re fortunate to live and work in Colorado! For those of us that have been here for 10 or 20+ years we’ve seen a lot of growth which has been good for business but it’s also challenging because of traffic, packed trails and finding parking spots in Boulder (pre Covid).
