Meet Deb Sheppard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deb Sheppard.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My life was not in a secure place and I wasn’t sure where to turn. I was told about Feng Shui and how the change of energy may help me with my current situation. Normally, when people are struggling, they will begin to look for options in hopes of finding answers that can change the direction their life is going, and this is what I did.

Knowing nothing about this topic I purchased a book that led me to understanding energy and it began opening me up to things I never expected or intended. While doing child care in my home after leaving corporate life, I was trying to figure out my future steps. That’s when it all began to change.

I began to feel the spirits of people who had passed. I didn’t know what this meant or even what it was called. I went to the library and began reading as much as I could. It was then I realized I was a psychic/medium.

My first thought was okay… what does that mean and what do I do with it? It started really coming out at odd times and now I look back and realize how odd it was for others at the time. I would be at a party with girlfriends and all of a sudden would feel their loved ones talking with me. So, I would blurt out, hey your relative is here! Not a good thing to say while having a beverage with your friends at a party. I had to learn how to control this ability that was amazing and divine.

Not long after this ability showed up in my life, I happened to hear a psychic on a radio show one evening. I was driven by a spirit to contact this radio station. The next day, I had the opportunity to speak to the director which was unbelievable because this never happens for a first call. He was open to chatting with me and wanted me to talk to Rashke the DJ that happened to have the psychic on the evening before.

We met a few times and I have some funny stories about her reading and how I made her a believer, but it was after 9/11 when she reached out and asked me to be on her radio show? I absolutely jumped at the chance and at the same time, I had no idea what I was doing or what was about to happen. I had no practice and no long term experience but I know I had this new and wondrous ability and I decided to trust it.

That evening Rashke briefly showed me how to follow her with headsets and how long I had with each caller. We both remember that evening like it was yesterday. I stayed on with her for five hours and I did 52 readings on and off the air. WOW, that was quite an evening. There was certainly an energetic high for both of us.

Rashke turned and said to me “Are you ready, this can change your life forever if you step into it.” I trusted her and the process and listened and believed and have never looked back. My life did change forever and I have now done over 50,000 readings since 2001. My intention is to help as many people heal as I can and to touch as many lives as I can.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believe that many times in life when you put yourself out there in new ways you will run into bumps in the road. This doesn’t mean it’s bad or good, it’s just what happens many times and I certainly had some bumps but know this was the journey I was meant to be going in life. Being a medium has a lot of controversy around it. There are skeptics, there are those who feel that this is not accepted by their religion and I myself have lost some friends and family along the way, but being a messenger for those who have loved ones who have passed and helping those who want to find peace and healing is my focus. Seeing people who I have connected with find peace and joy in the messages from their loved ones bring me a sense of peace. Not everyone is ever going to agree on the topic of mediumship, for me, I just had to move forward and embrace my ability and focus on those who are open to the messages the other side wants me to share.

Challenges come with the territory but when I am working with families who have lost children or helping detectives on cold cases or those that seek answers about the afterlife I am grateful to have this ability and it is something I will never regret doing, I’m grateful to be able to do this work.

By the way, I feel people should be skeptical when meeting a medium, but my recommendation is to be open to the process, this is a good way to approach this experience. I never feel the need to prove what I do, I just do my job as a medium and allow others to make their own conclusions.

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Aside from the ability to share messages from the other side, it is very unique to assist individuals through their grief process by sharing specific and detailed messages from loved ones and fur babies that are in the afterlife. I have many therapists that send clients to me so I can help give a sense of peace that their loved ones are okay and are still with them even though they are in spirit. It provides more tools to the bereaved so they can begin the healing process.

I have also been a mentor for 1000’s of clients to help empower and inspire their lives and learn to use their intuition on a regular basis. I also help individuals free themselves from guilt and to help them uncover and live their authentic truth.

There are several things that set me apart. In my opinion, a sense of humor is definitely an important aspect of healing and looking at life as things can be easier with humor and support, I bring humor and empathy to healing. I also bring the belief that you can manifest anything you desire and the sense for you to believe that all things are possible for you in your life. We as a society are told even from a young age that we are not good enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough, etc and I am here to show you that you are!

We are all enough and we all have abilities we can offer to our communities and our planet. By having the ability to bring a variety of things in my practice we can assist people on their life journey.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Compassion, empathy and a sense of humor. When clients reach out to me, they are going through real struggles. Grief has a life of its own and it shows up in so many ways. Divorce, loss of a job, empty nest, dealing with a severe health diagnosis. The loss of any type of passing, including our beloved pets. Even when life is going well and being blessed, sometimes people worry and panic thinking that it won’t last or they don’t deserve the good things that life can offer.

My clients are looking for the unconditional support that is free from judgment. They want healing, forgiveness and they are trying to find new tools. I provide these things and more. I am also 100% present for my clients, they are my focus and their healing is a priority to me.

I also believe that comparing our journeys with someone else’s is wrong. Saying “it will get better”, or “there must be a reason” is of no benefit to those who are struggling. Most people want to “fix” that person that is struggling. Realizing that they are not broken, they are learning new skills and new beliefs to continue their healing process is very important. There is no time frame to heal, or it’s not about “letting go” or “getting over it.” It’s learning to lean in and learning to be supported. I help those struggling with these things and help them learn to “receive” support.
