Meet DJ Housewife

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Housewife.

DJ Housewife, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started dj’ing when I moved to Denver, a little over two years ago. It had been something I wanted to pursue for a while, and am now super passionate about. I learned the ins and outs from friends who also DJ and that helped push me into learning more on my own. I continue to practice mixing various electronic genres such as house, tech house, melodic house, nu-disco, etc. and discover new music is half fun as I know others will enjoy it.

Building my own personal brand, Housewife is truly an amazing venture. I love marketing myself via social media and networking at venues and bars everywhere I go. The support from my friends really makes all the difference as well because it pushes and excites me to work harder and accomplish bigger and better ideas.

I want Housewife to become a “house-hold” (pun intended) name that plays for crowds that enjoys the energetic, and groovy sounds. My name is also a play on words, so it allows me to get creative in imagining and producing content, mixes, and merchandise (yes, I do have!).

This is just the very beginning of this personal passion project, and it’s such a fun journey to put time and energy towards. Artists that inspire me are Purple Disco Machine, Blondish, Claptone, The Beatangers, and many more. Their authentic styles are what I aspire to have and build a similar following amongst people who enjoy the same music.

For right now, I am continuing to improve my craft and want to start releasing more mixes so that everyone can enjoy some Housewife during their day/night. I play events all around the Denver area and looking forward to expanding my reach and building the Housewife brand.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s a learning curve, you can’t just say you want to dj and expect to be the best. Believe it or not, it’s harder than it looks, with learning to beat match, time cues, read the crowd, having to hold your bladder haha. There is a lot that goes into it than just pressing buttons, that is if you take it seriously enough.

It is proving yourself to different people so that you get booked, because there are so many others doing the same thing, and it’s figuring out what it is that will make you stand out. There are places and annual events that I have yet to play but am seeking it as a challenge to see how far I can go to make it happen.

This is something that I find is fun and am truly passionate about and won’t let any struggles or discouragement take that away from me.

DJ Housewife – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Housewife is an up and coming dj/brand that is known to play fun, house and disco music. Known for being that blonde chick who lights up a room when behind the decks. What I am most proud of is seeing how far I have come since the beginning. I wanted to prove to myself that I could master this passion project of mine and seeing where it takes me is half the fun.

What sets Housewife apart from other DJ’s is that its feel-good music being orchestrated by someone who thoroughly enjoys entertaining and brings a vibe of the modern-day house-wife dream. Being able to play music full time while baking goods on the side, kinda ideal haha.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Defining success is overcoming obstacles that are challenging at first and then knocking it out of the park. Looking back at where I started to where I am at now, only pushes me to want to accomplish more. Seeking out opportunities that allow me to get recognized and build hype around the name is what I hope to continue to do.
