Meet Dorsey Beckman of River Root Essentials in Golden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dorsey Beckman.

Dorsey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started in High School and my mom brought home a little roller filled with peppermint, lavender and jojoba oil, and changed my well-being for the good. With a warm wash rag, this roller and some rest, my headaches were cured!

Fast forward many years later to the first days after giving birth to my first son, I was downright down-in-the-dumps. I felt I was in a dark hole and helpless (my poor hubby!). It was the postpartum blues, anxiety, depression or whatever else you might want to call it. And to add, four months later, I decide to take another pregnancy test to eliminate the possibility of being pregnant and figure out why the heck I was feeling so sick. I saw the two pink lines, (indicating a positive pregnancy test), and thought my eyes were failing me. I told myself, just leave the test on the counter, get some fresh air and come back when my eyes are refreshed.

Sure enough, I was pregnant again, and desperate to bring tools into my home to bring myself out of and steer clear of the dark hole, again. Enter essential oils! I can use them in the comfort of my own home and not just to benefit me, but my family and dog, too. Finally, after a year of research, I bought the Premium Starter Kit with Young Living. Three years later, I own my own consulting business, coaching wellness and encouraging all mamas, wives, daughters and friends to bring essential oils into their own lives. It’s empowering, freeing and healing to take charge of you and your family’s wellness. My business is called River Root Essentials: rooted and established with love.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. One of the biggest bumps on the road has been navigating fears. I have a fear of what others think of me, therefore is challenging to be confident in the work I put out. This social anxiety has been with me for most of my life, and un-wrapping it has been a gratifying yet long, sometimes painful experience. As I learn to remain true to my roots, I often rely on a quote by Maya Angelou that declares, “Like a tree planted by the river, I shall not be moved.” I belong to myself.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about River Root Essentials – what should we know?
My business is rooted in love and inspired by the river. It’s constantly being revived with nature and stimulated by the power and virtues of light, gratitude, positive thought, vibrations, quantum physics and community. I am most proud when I see others making empowering choices for self, family and community. It encourages me to keep doing what I do with confidence.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I choose to surround myself with people who are encouraging me. My husband is always my biggest supporter and cheerleader, and kids are my greatest mentors. Also, Young Living. My up-line and cross-line coworkers are nothing short of the most encouraging, life-giving and committed community I’ve been a part of. We share a vision of empowered wellness and believe in getting essential oils into every home.
