Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Moore.
Emily, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a child, my first nickname was Ms. Independent, and that would carry throughout my entire life. In the first grade, however, I ran into a roadblock when my teacher held up my paper as a bad example. She was later moved to another school after many complaints, but her words haunted me and my independence for a long time.
Deep down, I knew I was powerful, but I then resorted to feeling like I was not smart or capable enough.
While I let that moment define me, there was still a strong and independent girl underneath the layers of pain and healing that needed to take place. Thank goodness for the positive mentors through which I was able to start facing my fears and unveil the girl I was always meant to be.
One of my initial mentors was a woodworker who lived a couple of houses down the street from ours. He would help me count the change that I gathered to make purchases in his shop. Once we were done with his required math lesson, he would then tell me what I could afford to buy. I would decorate my treasures and gift them to others. This brought me so much joy to the point that I became one of his loyal customers. My parents still have some of my treasured gifts. Watching him run his business was what initially inspired me to be a business owner. I knew I loved creating, giving back to others, and I wanted to make people happy.
My mother was a stay at home mom, and my dad worked in the telecommunications industry. My dad worked hard to provide for us, and he also volunteered by painting houses and fixing bicycles. The giving nature of my father further inspired me. After working for one employer for over 23 years, who then outsourced jobs, things no longer went in his favor. I was turned off by the fact that his level of dedication was not enough, and with a moment’s notice, some of what he worked so hard for was lost. That was a defining moment in my life and my journey. It also contributed to my healing and the knowledge that I needed to believe in myself and move forward in owning my first business.
I started my first company when I was 21 and have always defined myself by what I believed to be right at the time. I wanted to be treated right and wanted to treat the people I work with right. I built my first company from the ground up but decided to sell it when I realized my path laid in a different direction. As I searched for that direction, I found the love of my life who also shared a passion for entrepreneurship. My husband, Matt, then asked me to join forces to build our life and business. The pieces of the puzzle finally fit.
In a matter of six years, we have been blessed with two babies, two companies, and there’s never a dull moment. I even ran the business from my hospital room after the birth of each of my children. We were prepared with employees, but things didn’t go as planned. That is part of running a business, you always have to be prepared for the unknown and committed no matter the circumstances.
I am grateful that we have found the right team and have grown to seventeen employees. Their success has become one of the driving forces behind my reason to keep going. Knowing that we helped two of our employees recently purchase homes is a much bigger version of the gifts I used to decorate and give away. As for the girl who lacked confidence, I have learned how to face that head-on by being vulnerable, telling my story, and continuing to push myself to be brave. I have been navigating a field I never thought I’d be a part of, the world of tech. I found that a woman’s touch in this industry was needed to connect with the business owners and make it more relatable. Simplifying the sometimes head-spinning world of IT has been our goal since the beginning. This follows suit with our slogan, We Make IT Easy!
Our IT services gave us a window into our client’s businesses, and we saw missed opportunities when it came to their branding and marketing. Our second company, specializing in digital marketing, was then born. We pride ourselves on the fact that we’ve grown both businesses via word of mouth.
Our clients are our lifeblood, and we treasure them. I always tell my team that “we’re not putting food on your table, our clients are, and by taking care of them, we take care of ourselves.” We are now in the process of creating our third company. We were talking about either having a third baby or a third company, and the third company won! But we do also have plans to adopt one day.
Has it been a smooth road?
Growth always comes with a little pain. Being in the tech and digital marketing fields means that things change in the blink of an eye and keeping up with it can be difficult but we love and thrive in a fast-paced environment!
Please tell us about the business.
We are a Colorado-native and majority woman-owned business with a combined 25 years of experience with cutting edge technologies and branding. Not to sound cliché, but we will do anything for our customers’ success. We are not in this to support customers on a one-time basis, we want to build long-term relationships with them and see them thrive forever. Our slogan is “We Make IT Easy,” and we stick to those principles by offering solutions and flexibility that do not require an IT or Digital Marketing company to maintain. We are second to none when it comes to supporting Google as a Premier Cloud Partner.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We are both 1st and 2nd generation native Coloradans. We are well-traveled, and through our travels, we recognize the beauty of the state and the welcoming nature of our people. We have seen the city grow exponentially, and we love growth. That being said, the traffic has increased which can be a challenge.
