Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Drew.
Hi Eric, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Since before I could drive, I’ve been obsessed with cars and having them looking their best. Having owned somewhere in the neighbor of 20+ cars over the years and my inability to find someone to detail my own vehicles to my level of satisfaction, I decided to start educating myself on how to get the results I was looking for. Building my business with a few basic tools, I’ve been able to reinvest in myself and now operate commercial equipment capable of tackling the dirtiest of interiors and applying some of the best protection products on the market. Our business model has evolved from a business that tries to serve as many clients as we could to instead focusing on one client at a time with no restrictions on time. This allows us to take as much time as required to detail that vehicle up to our standards without the pressure of deadlines or moving onto the next client. It doesn’t matter if it’s a few hours or a few days, that is the only car we are focused on for the week.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s actually been pretty smooth, but a couple times we did get some feedback that embarrassed us. We took it to heart and went to work to corrected the issue and to prevent it from happening in the future. In over five years, we’ve been working commercially, this has happened only twice, but we made huge adjustments and feel confident in our ability to deliver outstanding results.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We’ve been operating in the Falcon Colorado area for the past 5 years, but we have a few clients that have gone so far as to fly us out of state for us to work on some of their cars. What sets us apart is that this isn’t our career. We have a career during the day which allows us to operate in the evening as passionate hobbyists who enjoy seeing dramatic results and take pleasure in the process. Just like most of our clients, we work during the day but unlike our clients, and probably most sane people, when the work day is done, that’s when we start detailing. This allows our clients to use their cars for work and then have it detailed when they are home and no longer dependent on us to finish so they can go home.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
This may be an old saying but yes the customer is always right. I like to have a conversation about their car, find out their goals. This is not about sales, this is about understanding what it will take to make sure they have a great experience with my services. Detailing is not a product or service you can just churn out. Each car is different, different materials, different designs, different challenges and all in different conditions. Understanding their needs and goals allows us to focus on delivering for them. Do everything you can to make them happy, your reputation and experience will grow from it. One person’s definition of slightly dirty is another person’s definition of filthy and vice versa.
