Meet Estelle Clairoux Reff

Today we’d like to introduce you to Estelle Clairoux Reff.

Estelle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I left Canada at the age of 21 years old and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where I worked as a Media and PR coordinator for an event production company. My work took me around the globe from South America to the beautiful mountains of Colorado. I then worked for one of North America’s most coveted luxury jewelry and specialty retailer (Maison Birks) where I developed multiple million-dollar marketing campaigns with my team.

My love for the outdoors took me back to Colorado where my husband and I later founded Hey Mr Digital Media. My idea with Hey Mr was to develop enthusiastically satisfied customers all of the time while establishing Hey Mr Digital Media as the premier digital marketing agency for small to mid-size businesses in Colorado. My partner and I worked tirelessly to build this business to where it is today. Building a company while raising my one year old daughter and spending my spare time volunteering or networking when I am not traveling back and forth to Canada to visit my family, has been my biggest challenge. I love Denver and I am making it a standard to source all of our contractors locally to ensure we’re encouraging the local economy.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When you are an entrepreneur daily ups and downs are a way of life. From technical meltdowns (we work in the digital space so these are daily occurrences) to employees leaving, to lost deals, it’s important for me during these critical times to remain focused on what really matters. My motivation level impacts how and whether the entire company can move forward. I always work on pushing through and staying true to our long-term mission.

Our passion is to help our client’s business grow. We vow to get away from cookie-cutter marketing and branding. Our goal is to provide businesses and professionals with eye-catching online marketing campaigns and videos that focus on customer satisfaction and retention. Hey Mr. Digital Media provides business owners with an all-inclusive, customized digital marketing solution aimed to increase brand awareness and business growth. We essentially become part of our client’s team. We’re their ‘marketing people’ and it’s fun to get to know our clients and work with them to grow their business.

When you meet someone in real life, you ask questions to get to know them better. You listen to their anecdotes, ideas, values, opinions, etc. You try to learn more about their story, and to tell your own (or at least some of it). The end goal is to connect. In business, the rules don’t really change. Telling your story is a critical part of building your “brand” and connecting with potential clients. This is where Hey Mr Digital Media comes in to play (this is when you call us hehe).

2019 has proven to be a very successful year for Hey Mr Digital Media so far. The company’s revenue doubled since 2018 and the team grew by 4 new employees. I personally worked on building efficient and comprehensive internal systems for the company (everything from marketing initiatives to Human Resources procedures). The company rated as one of 2019 Largest Denver-Area Advertising Agencies by the Denver Business Journal and we couldn’t be more proud.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I think most people would define success in life as having some measure of happiness. It’s important for me to make sure my goals cover areas of life that are often overlooked, (but have been shown to make almost anyone happy in life) such as relationships, physical health, and helping others. Success to me also means having those closest to me love and respect me the most. I believe a successful life is not all about success either. Some of my most powerful and meaningful moments happened in the midst of failure and defeat. It took me years to understand that and I am still working on being mindful and thankful every single day. At work, success means creating a business that empowers customers, employees, and the community in equal measure.
