Meet Hank Williams of Rocky Mountain Aardvarks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hank Williams.

Hank, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Rocky Mountain Aardvarks (RMA) is the Colorado branch of a groovy tree with roots in Brooklyn, NY known as Music For Aardvarks.

In the summer of 2015, I was brought in to audition with a new group of teachers to continue RMA when the current owner/teacher had moved. I soon found my groove in this kids music world and became one of the lead teachers of RMA. I knew this was my calling and found that teaching these amazingly fun music classes tied together all of my passions- music, teaching and having a blast! In 2019, I took over ownership of the Rocky Mountain Aardvarks program and officially became the “Director of Awesomeness” for RMA. I love rockin’ out with our front range families at classes, parties, and concerts!

Rocky Mountain Aardvarks brings a smart and silly, educational and entertaining, insightful and playful alternative to the Denver/Boulder kids music scene. A vibrant music selection helps instill an appreciation and understanding of melody and rhythm that will linger long after the last note is played. We make it fun—not only for children but adults as well—by sharing original songs about the trials and tribulations of being a kid, getting to know the world around us and looking at the familiar in a new way. We’re not just about entertaining, though that will help the learning sink in deeper. And we’re not just about the education, though learning is fun! The songs are original, the vibe is funky, and the time you’ll have is rockin’ good one!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I wouldn’t say that things have been easy, but they usually end up working out and we always have fun in the end- it’s our job! It was a huge leap for my family for me to take over RMA and run the business full time. As with most businesses, we’ve had our share of challenges. With this business, we deal with changes in locations, teachers and some missed opportunities too. However, no matter the bumps, we find our rhythm and no matter the key, we work to find the tune.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Rocky Mountain Aardvarks – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Unlike most other kids music classes, Rocky Mountain Aardvarks’ songs deal directly and honestly with childhood and parenthood experiences and most through the lens of the child. Because of this, our songs are not only catchy and creative, but they are very relatable.

We pride ourselves on having the more laid back type of music class. We want babies/kids’ first exposure to music to be what it should be- fun and exciting! Our songs tell a story and on top of that, they make both the children and adults in the room want to dance and move their bodies in ways that show their excitement and interest. We help introduce musical instruments that are approachable to kids and hope to help create a lifelong interest.

We are proud to be a part of the earliest stages of a person’s musical experience, proud to make caregivers laugh, proud to clap, dance and sing with everyone that experiences Rocky Mountain Aardvarks.

As we continue to grow, we are excited to bring our amazing program to new families all across the front range. Not only as the best music class for babies and kids, but also as the best kids’ party entertainment and a unique concert experience too.

• Semesters $215 for 10 weeks
• Parties $200 for parties within Denver.  We do travel outside of Denver for a small fee.
• $25 for drop in classes
• Unlike other music classes, we offer unlimited make up classes during the semester that you are currently registered in.
