Today we’d like to introduce you to Harmony Brown.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Harmony Brown Consulting was birthed out of the process of honing my own life purpose. It came out of a realization that I had been doing these things at some level or another for my entire career; it just needed some attention and focus. After going through the process of refining and clarifying my purpose, I started putting practical steps to it. It grew organically at first by word of mouth. It existed as a side hustle for a long time.
When I finally decided to launch, it came out of a time of reflection and meditation that was spurred by a frustration of spending my efforts working for someone else. Everything I built and put my heart and soul into was at the mercy of people making decisions where I had no say. This was no longer ok with me. I decided to write my decision and vision down. The following week multiple people I trust came to me saying, “I think it is time you started your own thing.” I took that as confirmation that it was time to step out. Two businesses were launched in an intentional, well-defined and planned out way and I am excited to see what is to come.
It has been a wild ride so far. I love working with people and organizations to unearth, clarify and define their purpose. Creating a strategy to move forward is next and witnessing the benefit that comes from that process is truly magical. I’m a big believer favor and abundance being attracted to purpose and I want it to unfold in every one of my client’s lives and situations.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of my biggest challenges is the timing of the COVID 19 pandemic not long after my business had started to gain traction. This has caused many of my speaking engagements, retreats, seminars and executive trainings to be postponed or canceled. Another challenge due to COVID is that my LifePlan process has typically been an intensive “in-person” experience, so I’ve had to work hard to adapt this to work well with people in an online setting.
When you are in the business of teaching individuals and organizations to thrive and grow, it is difficult to navigate a season where people are trying to survive. People have very different needs when in survival mode and are not as likely to put effort into the clarifying, refining process. Giving people tools that are relevant in a survival stance is something I had not focussed my attention on and I felt ill-equipped as the pandemic affected more and more of life. Pulling from my experience in counseling, coaching and crisis management, I was able to recalibrate the focus of my content to be more relevant to people’s current needs. Before COVID, It had been a challenge at times balancing business ownership, founding a non-profit, my family and other responsibilities I had.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Harmony Brown Consulting was founded to help individuals and corporations grow and succeed in a strategic, intentional way. I work with individuals, teams and organizations to gain focus and bring higher satisfaction and efficiency by aligning their lives and personalities with what they do in meaningful and strategic ways. I offer LifePlan™ – a unique two-day intensive process that takes people on a journey of personal discovery where they delve deep into why they exist. Participants walk away with a deeper understanding of their purpose and a strategic plan for success.
I do the same for non-profits and businesses, while also assessing blockages and opportunities previously unseen. I work with teams on interpersonal dynamics and collaboration. Using the enneagram and life strategies to increase productivity, satisfaction and growth. I offer life and personality coaching to individuals.
I am most proud of my company because it changes individuals to bring change to the world. It also helps fund non-profit work both nationally and internationally through The foundation for equality and empowerment launching later this year.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
More than anything, my proudest moments are seeing my client’s lives changed through the work we do. At times it almost feels magical. We lock in on their purpose and dreams in our sessions and then their lives start changing and aligning to the work and intentions set. It’s surreal to be part of something so powerful.
