Meet Heather Higgins of Argus Event Staffing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Higgins.

Heather, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I first moved to the Denver area from New Mexico in April of 2017, I was a recent university graduate who was energized to get my career started in a new, thrilling and much more interesting place but I didn’t know a soul in this big city. While browsing job opportunities, I came across a listing seeking out event staff for the entire metropolitan area. This company, Argus Event Staffing, stated it partnered with some big-name venues such as Red Rocks, CU-Boulder, the Ogden Theatre, the Mile High Stadium, and many others.

I figured this would be an excellent opportunity for me to explore the city, see some amazing artists because I’m a huge music fan, and get paid to do it all at the same time. It was perfect! My journey with the company began in the summer of 2017 where I quickly advanced through various positions, gaining more responsibilities and “wearing more hats” as the process went on. Currently, I work as a “Report Writer” who is someone who works closely with venue emergency teams and ensures proper documentation of incidents is recorded for legal purposes.

At the beginning of last year, I recognized the need for the company to take a new direction with their social media initiatives. Their approach at that time seemed outdated and simply wasn’t working to advance business goals. Argus needed a dedicated person for the task and I jumped at the opportunity to try something new. Although I didn’t necessarily have the experience to run a company’s social media channels under my belt, I had reached a point where I knew the company very well and had the initiative to build a revamped strategic plan for its online presence. I pitched the possibility of me taking over the digital duties and, therefore, creating the position for myself. They took the chance on me and since then, I’ve been serving as Argus’ Social Media Strategist in addition to maintaining my role as Report Writer.

On top of all of this, I also hold a regular full-time position as an Administrative Assistant for the executive board of Eberl Claims Service, an independent adjuster staffing company in the insurance industry. So, yes that’s correct, I basically have three jobs! At times it’s stressful but it’s all so worth it. I appreciate how each one of them is aiding in significantly improving my life and helping shape me into the person I strive to be. So you could say the hustle is REAL but I love it. I’ve seen what I’m capable of achieving and it motivates me to continue to reach new heights in my career.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was a major adjustment moving across state lines and to a huge city, not knowing anyone in it. However, I’m thankful that I’m an outgoing person who’s willing to get out of my comfort zone when necessary. The payoff this time was definitely worth it! Of course, one has to go through some struggles to find the right fit job-wise.

Naturally, there are periods of time where one craves change and hopes for something different. However, I’ve learned throughout my lifetime that the way one faces challenges and makes their own progress to a better state of being tells a lot about them. Not to sound cheesy but it’s all about having the strength and focused mindset to manifest your own destiny into what makes you happy in the long run.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Personally, I define success as the ability to make each one of my days enjoyable, creating an expansive ripple effect into all other aspects of my life. We’ve all had genuinely miserable times at jobs that we hated and I just don’t consider someone “successful” if they allow themselves to waste their precious days of life being discontent. I believe success is aligning your life and the time you’re given in it to be something that excites, motivates, and gives one a sense of security each and every day. My absolute passion in life is to travel the world and make the best of my experiences.
