Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Deffert.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve known since I was a child that I wanted to work in medicine. I started my career ten years ago at Denver Health as a nurse in the emergency department. My path to holistic health really began about eight years ago when I decided to do a juice cleanse and started educating myself on the importance of high quality, organic nutrition & what humans are doing to our precious food supply. Since then I have fallen down a wormhole & haven’t quit falling. This eventually led me to the discovery of Ozone, UV light therapy on the blood, detoxification, restoring the microbiome/gut health, the benefits of high dose vitamin C and the replacement of other vitamins & minerals. I began by healing my own body and here is where I found my passion!

My mission on this planet is to offer medical therapies to as many people as I can at an affordable price. The ER has taught me where Western Medicine really has its place: for the care of an acute situation, such as a heart attack or trauma, but not for long term management of health and disease. Our health care system is broken and too many people are sick! I’ve never understood why doctors only treat symptoms & prescribe pharmaceuticals, why not discover the root cause of someone’s illness? It just makes so much more sense to me! I tell people: I use light, oxygen, and plants to heal the body, the most fundamental elements of life, bringing it back to nature! The body is a magnificent healing machine, you just gotta give it the right tools!

Unfortunately, most western trained practitioners were not educated about this. I know I wasn’t! Finding this medicine requires doing your own research and taking control of your own health and not listening to doctors who only want to prescribe medication & surgery! It requires stepping out of the box & recognizing there is a better/safer way of treating illness. 🤔Why do you think your insurance doesn’t want to cover it? probably because it works! 🤫😇

I’ve become burned out working in the ER. It makes me sad that I know all of this valuable information and corporate hospitals don’t want me to share it with anyone. So, I decided to do my own thing! I decided to follow my heart and educate myself and train with some of the smartest practitioners in medicine. Three years ago, I started building my dream and I’m excited to finally announce that my business is open and I’m ready to share this magic!

I created a company called Go3Zone, LLC. My initial idea was to be able to provide these therapies in the homes of my clients. Bring back the visiting doctor concept, most sick people I know don’t want to leave their house when they are ill. Unfortunately, I am not able to offer this service at this time. However, I do rent space in the heart of downtown Golden from Bobby Jo Kuhl, owner of Into the Mystic Healing and Arts where I practice with my good friend/business partner Stefanie Tannery.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Ha! Definitely not a smooth road! I’ve definitely encountered struggles along the way.

To start, these therapies are not accepted by mainstream medicine. This has made things extremely challenging to talk about when talking to nay-sayers & practitioners that think they know better.

Acquiring all of the education, equipment, supplies, a medical director and a place to practice. Pretty much everything has been a little challenging!

I’ve almost lost my job in the ER a few times. It’s definitely a balance.

I wouldn’t have it any other way though! It by far has been the most rewarding and most challenging endeavor I’ve ever embarked on! I vowed a long time ago, a very sacred oath, one of the oldest binding documents in history to all that I treat, The Hippocratic oath which reads, “First, do no harm! I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:

I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.

I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism.

I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon’s knife or the chemist’s drug.

I will not be a shame to say “I know not,” nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient’s recovery.

I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially a must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given to me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.

I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person’s family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems if I am to care adequately for the sick.

I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.

I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.

If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected well I live in remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.

The name of my business is Go3Zone, LLC.  I specialize in all forms of ozone therapy, biophotonic therapy, which is the use of UV light on the blood and the administration of high dose vitamin C. I tell people I use light, oxygen and plants to help heal the body. I give people showers & sunshine on the inside. 

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
