Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Priestley.
Holly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Writing has been a part of my life for….ever. I’ve always written as part of my many jobs in the past but never as the sole activity.
When I made the transition into being a full time freelance writer, things just seemed to fall into place! As if the Universe was saying ‘THIS is what you should have been doing all along!’
I love my work and the freedom it gives me. It allows me to use my gifts and all of the experiences I’ve had in the past help to round out my expertise and provide high-quality service to my clients.
I live in my van and travel around the country with my dog so it is imperative to me that my work allows me to maintain my lifestyle.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Along with finding new clients, the biggest struggles include a lot of personal limitations and mindset issues.
Finding clients is a LOT easier than overcoming mindset limitations but they are both absolutely necessary to be successful in any career.
I also had to figure out a lot of systems & processes to ensure I could maintain high-quality work and adhere to deadlines while living on the road. I only recently got a hotspot and dedicated, unlimited data plan to go with it. Before that, I had to know where the coffee shops, libraries, breweries, and anywhere else had wifi was! Bonus points if it was dog-friendly so I didn’t have to leave my pup in the van while I worked for a few hours.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a freelance writer helping B2B Consultants increase their authority.
In other words, I distill ideas into words so my clients can make a bigger impact.
Most of my clients are very very good at what they do – helping their clients grow their businesses – but they aren’t always good at writing about it or talking about it or creating content to market their own services.
I help them turn their ideas and expertise into written content that can be shared on a blog, website, newsletter, social media platform, or other outlets.
I’m very proud of being able to take complex, high-level subjects and turn them into easy-to-understand, digestible content.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My mom has always been a writer and always encouraged me to write – she’s my biggest supporter but I don’t think she ever thought I’d be doing it as a career!
