Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Martinez.
Danielle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My Inspired Abode was founded by Lori Palmer, my mom. It was her dream to open a store in Erie where the community could gather and fill their homes with joy. She hand-pick every item in the shop based on what we want in our own homes. The store’s original grand opening was set for April 4 but due to Covid, it was pushed back and on April 26, Lori passed away. Knowing how much the store meant to Lori, Jim Palmer (Lori’s husband and my dad) decided to go ahead and open in her honor. Her sister Kari moved down from Minnesota and has partnered with Jim (Lori’s husband) and myself, Danielle (oldest daughter). We were so happy to open on June 18, 2020.
Has it been a smooth road?
Lori started getting the store together back in December and was very excited about the store opening. However, Covid did create a little of a delay on the opening. It took a little longer for us to get our shipments and after the passing of Lori, we needed to change all the licensing over to Kari and Danielle. However, once that was done it was a smooth process to open. We could not have done it without the help of our family and friends.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with My Inspired Abode – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My Inspired Abode is a home décor and gift store. We try to find different home decorations for everyone’s taste. We have a great range of styles, from the modern farmhouse to the man cave and everything in between. We also try to find pieces that customers are looking for. My Inspired Abode is a community-based store and our goal is to be there for Erie so that they don’t have to go too far from home.
Our goal is to make Erie proud to have us and feel like we are their store. We are here to support the community and feature some local artists from Erie and Colorado. We have great paintings from Jane Yamada and Nisha Ghela, along with great pottery from LSW Pottery.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Erie is a very united community. We have gotten a lot of support for local businesses and the people of Erie. We all are from a small town and love that Erie has that feeling as well.
