Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacques Kindle.
Jacques, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been performing stand up comedy for seven years. I was inspired to break into comedy because of all the comedy television shows my mother and I watched as I was a kid. This allowed my love for comedy to blossom. Since graduating from college, I have appeared on MTV 2 as well as the E Network. I produce monthly independent comedy shows in four different cities Washington, D.C., Denver, Colorado, Los Angeles, CA, and New York city, New York.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has not always been smooth, especially since I am doing a lot of my ventures independently. I’ve had to learn how to budget, negotiate, and perfect my craft so that I can create a worthy product. Comedy has allowed me to become more creative as well as pushed me to network within the industry and get outside of my comfort zone.Although the road may be hard; enthusiastic pursuit of this dream is what continues to motivate me to keep pushing for more.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I specialize in Comedy whether it’sits producing comedy shows, skits, or short films. I am most proud of selling out shows at the World Famous Comedy Store at (Crack em up Thursdays) in Los Angeles, CA;, DC Improv in Washington D.C.;, Voodoo Comedy Club in downtown Denver, Colorado, and Gotham Comedy Club in New York City, New York. I also was a content creator for Kevin Hart’s LOL Network in addition to appearing on MTV 2. My delivery, as well as stage presence, sets me apart from others on stage.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
\The internet will continue to play a major role in a comedy. There will be more comedians and younger comedians because of the reach the internet and social media have. The stage is the only consistent aspect in comedy because if you do not continue to practice on the stage you are doing a disservice to your craft. I am predicting an industry shift in gatekeepers and comedy club bookers as well. I believe more women, especially black women will be executive figures, many will own their own comedy clubs, and the quality of content being produced by women will continue to set the standard. Many comedians believe the culture is become more controlled, and regulated in regards to what comedians can say; however, consistency and creativity will allow comedians to push the envelope even more providing brilliant content, that will be remembered by generations to come.
