Meet Jalen Samuels of Awesome Aux in Aurora

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalen Samuels.

Jalen, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started as a radio host for online podcast interviews that my friend & I did through Awesome Aux. I would grab my laptop, hop in the car with a friend, find a spot on the road and use my mobile hotspot to do an hour long live show. We would place the microphone on the middle armrest and call the interviewees on the phone! A few of the artists we had in these interviews were DJ LiTEBRiTE, LA Voyagers and SoSav.

After spending time behind the boards I decided it was time for me to take a shot at the stage. I went out and performed a lot of original music throughout Colorado as a duo with an artist named Ty Til a.k.a the other co-founder of Awesome Aux. The healthy drive of determined individuals around me comes with great responsibility, and with great responsibility comes to both hardships and blessings. I’m just glad we all have the vision to accept the challenge at hand & work hard toward greatness.

Through live performances, I eventually found my love for DJ’ing. I loved being able to facilitate the dance floor as well as the stage when the time called. Since year one of Forever Fest, I have DJ’d yearly with help from my team members Javon Manning(Glass Valley Productions) and Stevie Selby(Over The Odds Photography). After experiencing many shows as a DJ & running sets for many artists throughout the city, I now realized that my true love is producing music. I have produced music since the age of eight, pretty much the first time I could get my hands on a computer with digital audio software on it. I’ve been locked into the music ever since, but now I am honing in on my beat-making craft to produce the hottest tracks possible.

Has it been a smooth road?
As smooth as possible. Awesome Aux as a group prides our selves on allowing extra time to complete the task(s) at hand. Of course, bumps in the road will happen but I try my best to remember to stay on top of everything at all times. This includes contacting all artists days/weeks beforehand to make sure everyone has their set time and schedules, making sure the venue is in tip-top shape for the performers & artists to take the stage, as well as self-care(maintaining a healthy diet & getting a good night’s rest before the events).

Tell us more about your organization.
Awesome Aux LLC is a foundation for artists and talents throughout Denver to come together and network with each other in positive and convenient ways such as joint studio time, help with lyrical compositions, social media marketing, etc. Through Awesome Aux I have met many amazing artists such as N3PTUNE, Kayla Rae, Saiiint, Mula Kkhan, KJ Clemente and many others even outside of Colorado.

Awesome Aux LLC is a company I co-founded alongside a lifelong friend in 2015. We built this business off of the sheer love for local art, film and talent of those in the city we were born and raised in. Over the past four years, we have committed to an annual festival as well as many showcases for anyone willing to hop on stage and strut their stuff. The festival is titled, “Forever Fest” and was started in 2015 shortly after the creation of Awesome Aux. Forever Fest is a two to three day event that involves daily activities, group fun and live music throughout Denver and Aurora.

We’re most proud of the consistency we have shown as a business over the past five years. Starting a full-fledged festival with a small team with a low budget wasn’t easy, and the journey up till this point has shown that with a plan and hard work you can get anything done. What sets us apart from others is that we execute when the opportunity is given. Throughout the years spent on scouting talent, hosting & going to events to promote our brand, and building a positive and safe environment that allows others to become acquainted is no small task.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Over the next five years. Awesome Aux to grow into the hub that it was created for easy connection to music artists/talent to get work done while providing valuable insight to the user who associates with Awesome Aux.

Over the next ten years. An official headquarters where the Awesome Aux business can thrive. An area with studio space & producers, room to market clothing/art, and a staging area for music showcases.

As far as big shifts & trends the plan is to scale up at a pace that is healthy for our growth while maintaining the relationships with those we have now.
