Meet James Trabucco of Colorado Bar Carts

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Trabucco.

James, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Colorado Bar Carts has been an idea we’ve been working on throughout our careers in events and marketing. My business partner, Preston Puchek, was the tour manager for Burton Snowboards and their Demo Tour. By traveling all over the country and educating people to the new technology going into their product, he developed a passion to motivate people in new and innovative ways.

I started my career in marketing for Oakley Sunglasses and curated events around X-Games and MLB All-Star Week. I then had the opportunity to transition into the alcohol industry with Deep Eddy Vodka to manage their “Dive-In Tour” for key music festivals on the West Coast. We’ve always been really excited to develop unique experiences and wanted to bring that same energy to our own company but we didn’t know how to execute. That’s when a buddy of ours from Montana reached out in September of 2019 and told us he was selling his vintage 1965 Airstream that he had converted into a bar!

That was truly the catalyst for developing Colorado Bar Carts. We spent the whole winter creating a second unit (the Lil’ Sipper), installing key features on the Airstream to make it as functional as possible, and developing our marketing strategy. We participated in our first trade show at the Denver Bridal Show and had an amazing reception! We were able to meet some amazing venues and people in the industry that were really encouraging and wanting to collaborate. There were plenty of brides and grooms that thought we were going to be a perfect fit for the big day! We thought we had a good idea but after that show we knew.

That was on February 22nd… Then the first week of March, the news of COVID-19 started coming out. We are now in a holding pattern to wait and see when this pandemic will subside and we can start getting people happy with our carts. We have had a bunch of support from families, friends, and community of other traveling bars in Colorado. We’re all in this together!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would have a full-grown Pinocchio nose if I told you it had been a smooth road. But you don’t start a company because it’s going to be easy. I’ve always enjoyed the journey more than the destination in any of my travels. I suppose that’s the metaphor of the company: You never know what can happen. These bars used to be traveling trailers, now they have beer taps and throw a great party!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Colorado Bar Carts’ whole purpose is to elevate any event! With our fleet of vintage custom-built mobile bars, our team of professional mixologists, and handcrafted cocktails, we have the ability to make any occasion unforgettable!

Instead of a pop-up tent, table, and soda water, we want to be able to bring a sense of timeless nostalgia and motivate people to think outside the box with how events can be produced. We collaborate with our clients so that every event is unique to their personality. Our clients provide us with the alcohol that they would like us to serve. We develop their menu to the ambiance of their party. If you want us buttoned up in our finest and serving martinis or dressed down in a flannel and jeans cracking beers, we will make it a night to remember!
