Meet Janice Stitzer of CIG Construction in Westminster

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janice Stitzer.

Janice, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My husband and business partner, Kelly, began our professional partnership renovating and remodeling homes and multi-unit properties. A concentration in roofing was a natural transition. As a third-generation commercial contractor, Kelly brings a level of experience which only comes from growing up on job sites. He started out pushing a broom and being an extra set of hands, then progressing into apprenticeships for various specialty trades. Kelly brings a well-rounded knowledge of ground-up construction in this day and age of specialty tradesmen/women.

My journey into the business of construction started out as the supporting role to a husband who took a chance starting his own business. What started as a means of providing for our family has flourished into something bigger, a deeper purpose, and that is changing the perception of the skilled trades. It’s also important that members of the CIG Construction team identify with the deeper purpose of changing the perception of working within the construction industry.

We’re proud of what we do in roofing and appreciate that our clients entrust us with one of their most important investments. In parallel, we hope we can show the next generation that a path in the skilled trades can be lucrative and ultimately important to future infrastructure of our society.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Construction entrepreneurship is never a smooth road, it has been littered with a series of false starts, but together we’ve endured the rough roads of construction entrepreneurship. We are mindfully growing our business, selectively assembling a team who shares the same vision and care about the experience we provide our clients.

CIG Construction – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
CIG Construction has evolved from residential shingle roofing to serving the commercial real estate sector with our specialized reinforced roof coating system. We help commercial building owners and property managers protect their investment. With reinforced roof coatings, building owners can keep their existing roofs.

Traditional roof replacement is expensive and disruptive. We believe it shouldn’t cost so much to replace a commercial roof. We know how stressful roof replacement is and how much disruption it can cause to businesses. A reinforced roof coating system provides all the benefits of a new roof without the disruption and headache while saving tons of money on installation costs.

What sets CIG Construction apart from other companies in the roofing industry is that we are a woman-owned business. (Women only represent 9% of the construction workforce). I feel that I bring in a modern and fresh perspective, delivering on brand innovation within the traditional industry of construction and roofing. From CIG Construction’s modern office space to the buzz created on our company’s social media platforms, CIG Construction’s brand intuitively evokes an overwhelming sense of quality and trust. But a deeper purpose exists behind our company’s brand; that is changing the perception of skilled trades by re-framing the narrative of the modern-day roofing contractor.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
No project is ever alike, each presents a different set of challenges. The biggest struggle for building owners is finding a roofing company they can trust to stand behind their work. Quality, trust and delivering on peace of mind have been the most important aspect to our success.
