Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Lindauer.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jeff. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up, I spent much of my free time in Colorado’s high country. My dad bought some property in the Buckhorn Canyon in the 60’s and we camped and hiked up there, winters and summers alike. It’s a remote spot, at 9,000 feet and surrounded by national forests. On that property is an artesian mineral spring. We drank from it as kids. The water is pure and reaches the earth for the first time on that very land. Fast forward many, many years and some friends and I had the idea to bottle the water. That idea never made it to reality but we later had the idea to make spirits and this water was perfect.
Direct from the ground, with nothing but filtration; the pH is spot-on, the minerality is high. We started Spring44 in 2011. My earlier career had been in tech so this was a huge shift for me. We distill and produce many spirits and each of them uses our spring water. We haul water from the Spring to the distillery a few times each week. In the winter, we use a truck named Tinkerbell, which is fortified by tank treads. In this business, the quality of the products and my love for the outdoors have been united. However, this is a very hard business and a very challenging industry. Professionally, it’s the most rewarding and difficult thing I’ve ever done.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been a bumpy one. There are lots of capital requirements, manufacturing challenges, all in a very competitive industry.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Spring44 Distilling – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Spring44 Distilling is a Colorado distillery. We only use water from our proprietary spring in the Buckhorn Canyon. We make vodka, honey vodka, gins and whiskey. We’re proud of our people, our commitment to nature and our commitment to quality.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We are indeed Colorado proud. Our distillery is in Loveland and we love the people in Northern Colorado. We love the proximity to the mountains and those blue skies. As for our least favorite part, have you been on I-25 lately? 😉
