Meet Jeff Scaman, Tiffany and Brad Cooke of DUBL in Tech Center Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Scaman, Tiffany and Brad Cooke.

Jeff, Tiffany and Brad, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
All great ideas are born over good meals with friends! In 2017, I was on a business trip in Dallas and met some good friends, Brad and Tiffany Cooke, for dinner. A great meal and catching up on lost time lead to the most riveting of discussions—patents, software apps, and technology of course. To make a long story short, we got talking about dash cameras, Nest, and the ever-increasing need for security in ride-shares. The idea of NEST, but for your car, even came up. This got everyone’s wheels turning. What if we developed a dual-camera dashcam app for phones, allowing people to record inside and outside their vehicles simultaneously. We all recognized the immense value this could have to parents of teenage drivers and ride-share drivers and riders.

We collectively researched the market of available apps and discovered there was nothing available that accomplished what we had envisioned—a simple app that leveraged both phone cameras to simultaneously generate recordings. With the market for our idea verified, DUBL Development, LLC was born and the development of the original DUBL app commenced.

We initially launched the original DUBL app on Android in December 2018, but quickly switched to Apple to leverage the capabilities of the iOS platform. Since then, we have successfully launched three dual-camera apps: DUBL, DUBL Drive, and DUBL Pro for the iPhone XR, XS, and iPhone 11.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Is there such a thing as a smooth road in app development? I think not! But to answer your question, no, the road wasn’t (and still isn’t) smooth—but that is part of the fun! As I mentioned above, we developed our initial DUBL app on the Android platform, but quickly ran into hardware and software blocks outside of our control. Ultimately, had we continued, DUBL would have been accessible to only a small number of Android users. Realizing this did not meet our expectations, we switched our focus to iOS and the iPhone in 2019.

Please tell us about DUBL.
DUBL Development, LLC was formed to develop and leverage our dual-camera technology into software applications. Since launch, we have leveraged our dual-camera technology into various use applications, including social media, dash camera, and a pro-enterprise apps.

As a company, we are most proud of our perseverance and creativity. In this industry, there are a lot of roadblocks and a lot of competition popping up. We successfully took what we believed was a relatively simple concept and turned it into need-to-have technology with vast application. We also, with the help of our fantastic software developer and CTO, cleared all the technology hurdles that presented themselves along the way.

Our perseverance and creative problem solving has resulted in the successful launch of our three current apps (DUBL, DUBL Drive, and DUBL Pro). DUBL Drive in particular is a fantastic accomplishment—it comprises a vast array of features that are now at the fingertips of users in a single iPhone, including Apple Maps display, speed and GPS tracking and display, auto triggering, and DUBL Cloud support. We completely obviated the need for a traditional hardware-based dash camera.

We are also proud of the recent launch of our newest app, DUBL Pro. With DUBL Pro, we took everything we loved about the original DUBL app and DUBL Drive and bundled it into a super or “Pro” app. DUBL Pro is a customizable dual-camera app that allows users to personalize videos with customizable content, including text and logos. With DUBL Pro users not only get to “double” their content, they can ensure that their brand is pervasive in their content. We envision that DUBL Pro could revolutionize the real-estate and sales markets. Dual-camera home tour anyone?
