Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Livsey.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My mom gave my brothers and I pretty intense art lessons when we were little. I grew up on our cattle ranch on the Eastern plains of Colorado, surrounded by the beauty of nature and animals and skies, so ranch chores and art lessons were an enriching combination. I took a few photography and painting courses in college but didn’t return to painting until adulthood. I just felt the overwhelming need to keep the creative part of myself humming in the midst of work and motherhood.
Has it been a smooth road?
Focusing on art is difficult while juggling motherhood and my real job. Honestly, I feel anytime I can break away to do art is a gift, so I don’t want to complain about the little time I do have!
Please tell us about your work.
JenLivseyArt.com is where I post and sell my art. I have been commissioned to do some western scenes and landscapes for various organizations and self-commission (ha) a lot of animal pairs for baby shower gifts. I have never had any formal training in watercolor, so my work can look like a combo of watercolor and oil painting, which I think sets it apart a bit.
