Meet Jenn Bonicelli and Meghan Hertzfeldt of Two Came True in Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenn Bonicelli Bonicelli and Meghan Hertzfeldt.

Jenn and Meghan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
This business began one afternoon while working together at an elementary school. We had already shared a strong bond with each other during our personal journeys with infertility, and that bond grew stronger as we both became twin parents. We wanted to give others that same support we both desperately needed during our pregnancies and in those first few months after the babies arrived. The writing started during Meghan’s pregnancy and the business officially launched the day she gave birth in 2015.

What was once a small idea about helping other twin parents turned into a hub for ideas, strategies, parenting wins & fails and now a book! We blog candidly about life as moms raising multiples. parenting, sleep challenges and all things in between. Parents of multiples often experience unique situations that arise and oftentimes need different parenting strategies than a parent with a singleton. We have created an authentic outlet for other twin parents looking to connect and find support through our informative, relatable, and inspiring content. Our candid and positive voice gives countless overwhelmed parents the confidence they need to feel successful as they embark on their parenting journey.

We attribute our success to what Meghan calls ”staying in our lane.” We aren’t trying to help every single parent solve every problem on the planet. We are twin parents that are simply sharing experiences. We highlight our successes as well as candidly share our challenges too! In addition to our stories, we love highlighting other twin parents in our community and what worked for them. We are supportive, positive and welcome everyone into our community. Lifting each other up is so important in parenting, which is why we now offer the solutions-based support were so desperately looking for as new twin parents. We are on a mission to help twin parents discover the joy in parenthood, making life with multiples more fun!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with most things in life, there have been bumps in the road. Blogging, consulting and running an online business were all a career changes that had a steep learning curve. We quickly had to learn to navigate a space that was drastically different from where our previous professional experiences had been. Hello, widgets and coding? There has been a lot to learn, but with all things, we adapt. The further we get into this business, the more we rely on each other’s strengths to propel us forward. The expertise we carry from our former careers in education has helped to drive our working relationship as business partners. We have naturally found our strengths in the online space, allowing us to focus on different components of our business. Together, we balance the workload.

The one thing we always consider is the big picture. When it comes to any business decision, big or small, we restate our mission… helping twin parents thrive. We carefully consider every opportunity to be sure that we aren’t steering our business out of our lane of expertise.

Two Came True, LLC – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Two Came True is an online platform and supportive community that helps twin parents navigate life with multiples. We don’t have a one-size-fits-all approach because we believe there is more than one way to feed, sleep train, etc. Our clients will often hear us say that the parenting solutions we offer have to work for their family, if they don’t, we throw it out of the window and try again.

We don’t claim to know it all, but we do share our experiences, both the wins and the challenges, to help parents learn along with us. Parenting doesn’t have a roadmap but we work with our clients endlessly until we find something that works for their family.

In addition to writing content for our blog, we also offer consulting services, which we are now expanding to speaking engagements at local moms groups and parenting courses offered at hospitals.

We are most proud of our newly published book, You Can Two!: The Essential Twins Preparation Guide that came out in November of 2018. The positive feedback has been overwhelming, really helping us pause and affirm that we have landed on the map as a reliable parenting resource.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Ahhhh! We are still squealing over here! Can you feel the excitement? The proudest moment of our career thus far was publishing our first book! It was an amazing learning experience to have worked with our publisher and marketing team within 3 years of launching our business. We knew that someday we wanted to write a book that we would have read during our pregnancies. And so, we did just that!

Writing a book was an incredible opportunity to share our expertise in a different format. It helped us add additional resources to our business for parents looking for support.
