Meet Jenn Hand

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenn Hand.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jenn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My business was birthed from my own struggle and healing. I battled disordered eating for 13 years: caught in the throws of binge eating and dieting, body shame & hate, and many frustrating nights of “food is EASY…why can’t I solve this issue?!” I had an epiphany while living abroad in Ecuador: I wanted to help other women who battle their weight and food to find the peace and freedom that I had found.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Is starting a business ever smooth?! (If you’ve figured it out, please give me the scoop!) I initially didn’t WANT to start a business, so I began writing a blog. But the blog took off and it eventually developed into a business! So much for not wanting to run a business… 🙂

I’ve struggled with having the courage to leave my full-time job to dive deeper into my own work, the tough mental mindset not to take things personally (since my business is so much of “me”!), and the tenacity it takes to leap from the “steady paycheck” to the life of an entrepreneur. Despite the struggles, I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I’m a speaker, writer, author, world traveler, adventure connoisseur, holistic health advocate, creator of the Normal Eaters Club and founder of www.jennhand.com, a full-service boutique that offers coaching and an online program that enables women to transform their relationship with food, fall in love with their bodies, and well, become one of those “normal eaters”!

I’m most proud of sticking to my intuition when making business decisions. There are a million different things I could be doing (start a Pinterest board, run Facebook ads, do live Instagram videos, create a new product, do more webinars, etc.!), and I have honed in on what I love the most using my own guidance and inspiration!

What sets me apart is that I live what I teach. I’ve walked the path my clients have in their struggles with food, weight, and body, and deeply relate from a place of experience. This has been huge in being able to help foster change in my clients’ lives more quickly and deeply!

What were you like growing up?
I was adventurous, a perfectionist, a rule-breaker, a quick thinker and super creative. (An odd combination?) My senior year of college, I went on a study abroad program called Semester at Sea, which completely changed the course of my life. Instead of following the “traditional” path of graduate college, get a job, buy a house, etc., I decided to move abroad to Thailand to teach English. This year abroad (followed by another year in Ecuador) helped develop me into that adventure-seeking, non-conforming, blaze my own path person that I am today!
