Meet Jennifer Korona of Blue Mountain Storage in North and South Denver Parker and Loveland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Korona.

Jennifer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our family lives in Colorado between Denver and Aspen. My husband is an entrepreneur who loves challenges. We have a large wine collection that we had to store while we were deciding where we were going to live permanently. When we found the only wine storage in Denver it was full, they added a temporary area for our wine and I saw a huge need for wine storage not just in Denver but in the Valley where we live as well.

When our children told us they were going to have a baby girl I decided that I had to be a role model and start a business, girl power and all that. Well, when I started to look into wine storage my husband saw a real need for storage in general. We decided to start a high-end storage company geared towards women. I have stored many things over my life and never felt safe going alone. Most storage places are creepy, you are alone in a dark hallway no natural light and no one around.

I wanted to do something different, someplace that I would send our daughter, daughter in law granddaughter and niece to. Someplace that everyone felt safe and welcome. Storage is usually needed during extreme or unexpected occurrences in one’s life. I thought let’s provide stressed-out people with a calm relaxed place a friendly face greeting you offering a cold bottle of water a cookie a smile. A place where your children can watch cartoons in our office. A place where we play the Broncos games a place that will become a part of each community we are in. Not just a big box storage with no thought towards the community they are in. At BlueMtn we decided to make a positive impact on each community we are in and mainly we want to be involved in our state as a whole.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing in life is smooth. It has been hard getting communities to see that we aren’t the average storage company, that we are different and want to stay different. That we are family owned and operated. That what is important to us is the community because we live in the communities where we build.

BlueMountain Storage – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in knowing each one of our tenants. We are always ready to help out any way we can, watch your children while you run up to your unit to grab something. Help you unload your car. Hold a door open. Listen to whatever you need to share that has been burdening you.

I’m proud that we are run by women for women and families.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I would say when I see our business becoming an asset to the communities we are in that defines successes to me. When we get letters and reviews from clients and the Chambers of our communities thanking us for all we do. That is a success.
