Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Luszczak.
Jennifer, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I wanted to be a hairstylist ever since I could remember because my mom was a cosmetologist. After trying college for two years, I realized I needed to follow my passion even though I was discouraged. Since I spent two years working part-time and going to college, I was the oldest and most serious of my class. After graduating, I apprenticed at top Philadelphia salons where I was “faking it, to make it” with hair color. I was away during hair color theory week in cosmo school and never learned color properly. Fast forward two years, I was nominated by a local sales rep to audition to be an educator for L’Oreal Professionnel! My career took a giant turn and I was able to fill in the gaps of my education by becoming an educator myself! This truly taught me the value of education and empowered me to share my knowledge with hairstylists across the country.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My first obstacle was being discouraged to follow my dream in order to be “successful” I was told I needed a college degree. Second, was missing color theory week during school. Third was that I first declined the audition for L’Oreal Professionnel because of extreme fear of public speaking. The brand empowered and trained me not only with color and public speaking but also provided personal development coaching.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
