Meet Jessica Gildea of ThePureBag in LoHi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Gildea.

Jessica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My mom Lori, a Philadelphia area resident was a pharma executive and a weekend warrior until she was exposed to a bug during exercise. She became ill for three months and was no longer able to feed herself, let alone work. Thankfully a 5-day immunoglobulin infusion restored her health. After subsequent months of PT, she used yoga as part of my therapy to return to full strength. Wary of falling ill again, she wanted to find a stylish fitness bag that would protect her from germs. When she couldn’t find anything, she designed + created her own yoga bag with silver ion technology and consequently, ThePureBag® was born! I realize her story is an extreme case, however, she came to realize how important it is to protect yourself from germ exposure during and after exercise. We now work together as a mother-daughter team, she in Philly and I in Denver! I believe ThePureBag® products provide that extra level of protection.

Has it been a smooth road?
We have learned that education is an important piece to becoming successful. Without our audience realizing the health benefits, ThePureBag® can offer, to them, it’s just another pretty bag! However, it is so much more! Through events, social media, emails and publications, we have been able to steadily build our clientele since our founding last April. Our goal is to have National reach!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with ThePureBag – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We were founded last year, my mom designs and creates new products, develops brand strategy, oversees operations and CRM. Both of us focus on business development. I also manage our social media and PR. We are proud of the fact that we are a small, self-financed mother-daughter business, that has been able to keep our manufacturer stateside, which sets us apart from most all other businesses.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the proximity to the mountains and the abundance of live music.

The smog.  Unfortunately Denver is the 8th most polluted city in the country and I would love to find a way to help improve our environment.
